Official: Suspect in custody in NY car bomb attack NEW YORK – A suspect in last weekend's failed car bomb attack on Times Square was taken into custody late Monday while trying to leave the country, a law enforcement official said. The suspect, a Pakistani, was identified at midnight Monday at John F. Kennedy International Airport and was stopped, said the official, who spoke to The Associated Press early Tuesday on the condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the investigation.

Okay, there was a conspiracy. Run by a bunch of idiots. According to the news, and this was on CNN, MSNBC etc, the bomb was a joke. First the fertilizer was not the explosive kind, second the conspirators used fire crackers, third they evidently did not know that propane bottles have a pressure release valve to prevent catastrophic failure, and third that the gasoline would not burn hot enough to even come close to blowing up the propane bottles, that is if you can get them to blow up without venting because of the pressure increase.
