And... your point? You will note that she is the one who brought up education in the first place, and for no reason other than to attack the OP. That said, I would think that a published author would take a firm stance against plagiarism, even if xhe wasn't fond of the person making the OP. Also, I'm curious as to how the fact that she has 'long held' an advanced degree means anything at all, as 'holding' a degree, once earned, requires exactly nothing.

OK...if there was no point in bringing it up, then why did the poster to whom I was responding bring it up?

Perhaps that's whom you should ask.

As for the purpose of starting this thread, I figured by bringing the issue to the table, perhaps other people who "borrow stuff" from others might see how irate it makes the author. And I was irate. And I also figured that after about 7000 threads, I can share some of the things that irate me with the people I post here with.

Had I dragged out the woman's name, called her out to be persecuted, etc, then I would have absolutely been guilty of being petty. I didn't. From post 1, I said I realised she probably didn't know what she was doing and that in itself baffled me.

So what's the point of this thread? When I started and said usually this doesn't bother me so much but now it is, I think it's that it's the absolute ignorance to what plagiarism really is.

There is no point in trying to rehabilitate a thief (unless one is specialized in this field), but educating the ignorant about what practices are acceptable is worth it. So if I'm going to get flack for trying to raise such issues in an online community that I've been a member in for 6 years and get a little flack for it, then I can live with that.

Status: offline 		For whatever reasons the culprits had, I've had many photos and words 'borrowed' in my time on the net.

Considering I am not a published author, my work is not copy written or anything of that sort, I am a grown adult, fully aware of the nature of the internet beast,.........I shrug it off.

I've got far more important things to concern myself with than some twit that is so pathetic a writer or insecure in their looks they have to use MY stuff to compensate! Mine? Surely they could try a little harder than to use mine!

Besides, anyone using someone else's stuff to try and score is going to blow their cover sooner or later.

Status: offline 		I bet they look like huge flying saucers. From a distance it looks like you can actually see aliens standing around their ship. But, as you get closer you realize "the aliens" were really just strands of thick and black coarse hair.
