*shrugs* Honestly... I don't see why you're so worked up about the woman. She was a director at an investment firm, by title. In actuality it sounds as if she was hired as a sort of eye-candy, "in house" escort for potential investors... minus any sexual favor. The man who was her boss and hired her sounds like an absolute nightmare and world-class jerk. By the way, while many of the articles I found referred to her as having been "sacked", my understanding is that she claimed she was constructively dismissed. That means basically that she felt her work environment was being made such an unpleasant place that she felt she had no choice but to quit. That, she did three days after returning from six weeks in a hospital undergoing psychiatric treatment for depression. It does appear that she was making nearly 600 pounds, but that was only for the last year she worked there and only 100 pounds of it was salary. The remainder was bonus. It was one of the reasons that she said she just sucked up the horrid working conditions and stayed... she knew the pay was fabulous. Of course, because she stuck around she says it was the main reason she ended up having a breakdown. As for the level of pay, yeah... it is a tremendous amount. Was her work performance worth that much? I've no idea. She might have lured in many large investors and been very valuable to her employer. Whatever the reason, her boss (and founder of the investment company), Mark Lowe (who is worth reportedly 100 million pounds himself), obviously felt she was worth it or he wouldn't have raised her salary and bonus to that point. By the way, it sounds as if, even if Mr. Lowe had paid Ms. Wimmer less, he wouldn't have been spending his money to hire more staff. Though a bit old, this article mentions his company having only four employees. The firm, which employs four people, paid most of the money it made each year to its directors. Lowe is thought to have been the principal beneficiary. The company has also filed for liquidation. At any rate, sounds like a bunch of sleazy people embroiled in scandalous behavior.
