I'm going to have to add another congratulations, because I didn't know you got married!  I guess I missed that announcement :(

Back on the hair....that photo lushy posted is very much like what I had in mind.  If you need a little height on top, then just make the upper layers a little shorter, framing the face.  My best friends are my big (cheap!) velcro rollers.  Dry your hair, then, while the hair is still warm, wind all your hair on them.  You don't even have to be very neat about it.  Give it a little spritz of hair spray, then go do your makeup.  When the makeup's done, take them out, do the sexy head-shake thing, run your fingers through it, another little spritz, and voila, bouncy, trouncy, flouncy, pretty hair, lots of body!

The thing about things our mom's tell us is they are often steeped in pov's that we do well to let go.

There are hot babes with long hair older than 48 and we can wear white whenever we want.

Nettle tea is also great for strengthening hair amongst many other benefits.

Keep it long if ya wanta.

Also congrats!

Also, what heartcream said.

Also, you can always cut more off, take it off gradually, would be my suggestion.

Thank you, again!

Well... there was no announcement.  I may have mentioned it a time or two in the forum, but I didn't make a big deal about it.

To be honest, after the wonderful affair of Greedy and Pirate's, I didn't want to sound like I was looking for a similar response.

We had originally planned to get married on our "contact" anniversary last week, rolling both into one day.  But, back in December we decided to just do the courthouse thing.  I was beginning to stress out a little bit about trying to decide whether to go big or small, and the family attending thing... well...

My family is a bit "factured".  My parents were divorced when I was a baby, and my mom has been in a nursing home (in Missouri) for years now.  My step-father (who raised me) died a few years back and my "real" father just passed away in October. While I love my step-mother dearly, she's getting up there in years and now that dad is gone, she won't travel alone.  She has a boat load of kids that I sort of grew up with, but I don't particularly like them.  While I have a brother and a sister, I don't really have much contact with them.  We aren't on the outs or anything, just busy with our own lives and just aren't the real close knit family type.  Finally, two of my own three boys were in the military and can't take leave when they want.

Firm's family is... well... let's just say he wasn't too bothered about inviting them.

lol... Anyway, I didn't really mean to get long-winded there.  Just helps to paint a better picture about why I was having a hard time deciding about a wedding and family.

Firm more than made up for not having anything fancy... aside from just the joy of getting to be Mrs. Firm, that is ...

Lookie, lookie!

I've used molecular rollers for years now.  They're great, but easily put in too much curl if I'm not careful.  If I leave 'em in too long, I look like Shirley Temple.

I never thought about putting non-heated rollers in while my hair was still warm from drying.  What a great idea!

lol... I sometimes wonder if they tell us stuff like that just to make themselves feel better.

And I wear white anytime I want to, too!

Happy Anniversary

How about shoulder length and a perm on the biggest rollers to give it some curl and bounce?

Or try them on virtually first

Have you ever noticed anybodys hair at work, walking around, going to the mall. Has anything that you have seen appealed to you?

I'm 52, and my hair is approaching my butt, and i love it - even if it does make me hot sometimes. And it is a definite silver colour - and oddly, i get more compliaments from older women.. I don't know if it is the colour or the length or the combination of the two - so don't be afraid of grey. I started going silver when i was 18, and finally got over the colouring mess (for me).

Try long bangs - they are supposed to be all the rage now, and flattering to the face.

First of all, congratulations to both of you. Secondly, I recommend trying one of the vitamins formulated for hair, skin and nails. You can look through various hair style magazines and Websites to upload a photo and see what different cuts would look like on you. Don't forget how the texture of your hair can influence the best style, whether it is fine and thin or thick and wavy, etc. How does it react in heat and humidity? And if you can find a style that works well for you either down or up for the summer that is a win-win.
