I got curious about 'the man behind the curtain', so to speak, and I haven't seen any references to ownership...only that it's based in the USA.


I suspect that it's an individual{s} There is no way to know for sure, because the owners identity is kept secret through a front company that specializes in proxy administration/domain registration. It's my bet that many sites like this operate in a similar manner. Whether it's a calculated ploy to reduce litigation exposure, negative press/fanfare or just basically remain anonymous, I'm not sure.

I have an idea that the owner is either John Norman or the Anti Christ. Or is John Norman the Anti Christ? Either way, I have no problem with it. Just like how many licks it takes to get to the center of a Tootsie Pop, the world may never know. Maybe one day when eating in a local breakfast joint, I'll look out the corner of my eye and see the following conversation:

Person one: I've been the owner for the last two times. It's your turn to be the owner.

Person Two: Why should I be the owner? I was the owner before you. I've been a mod, an owner, but never a profile approver. Why can't he be the owner this time, you be a mod, and I'll be the profile approver?

Person Three: Why should I be the owner. I've never been the owner. I wouldn't know what to do.

Person One: Don't worry, we didn't know what we were doing either when we became the owner. So this is how it will work. You'll be the owner, I'll go back to being a mod, and this guy can finnally be a profile approver so his prifile can finally get a approved.


When I turn my head to get a full view of the three talking, they will disapear within a blink of an eye. It could happen.

It makes sense.  I guess I'll never really know then. 

I'm honestly glad people are having fun with this thread.  After starting it in all sincerety, I was a little disheartened to see it hijacked so far into left feild,  but c'est la vive.  It's good to see people enjoying themselves.

Nothing left to do but watch and see if that John Norman thing starts a good ole flame war or not.

I doubt that litigation is their concern.  A subpoena would compel the hosting company to divulge the domain owner's contact info should anyone initiate any litigation. 

Spammers and con men have combed domain registrars' databases for targets since the bad old days when Internic was the only registrar in town.  Using a proxy hosting company hides the domain owner's personal info to make that impossible.  It also keeps the nutburgers from stalking and harassing site owners.  I can only imagine how much crap the owners here would get if their contact info was available to the unwashed masses.

I looked under the bed, but noone was there.  I looked in My closet, but nothing there either.  So I am assuming it is one of the many voices that are in My head (did you know that four of five of those voices tell Me that I am not schizo?).

Stef :  I agree with you regards their probable reasoning. And I would operate in a similar manner if I owned the site. But I can promise you, anytime you can frustrate a potential litigant you lessen your exposure.
