One does not want to wallow in the filibuster at some insignificant political theater as this with the mideterms looming to much political hay there, they have other recalcitrance to live down and distance themselves from.

Now, should it turn out she is a member of AnarchyUnlimited or got her boyfriend off a rape charge by using influence, well....what could be a happier outcome for the minority party?

Archer -> RE: Elena Kagan, pick for the Supreme Court (5/10/2010 2:04:48 PM)

Oh no I'm not looking for real filibuster stuff, just enough threat to make Mr President say something contrary to his words spoken as a Senator in a way that can be used later as red meat for the masses.

Partly. Mostly because November is coming and they've got nothing else.

Yep. See Tim, we really do agree on things...[;)]

Why pick someone with no paper trail?

He pledged unprecedented openness, yet he plays these parlor games which are but a means of getting around that pledge.

That is, unless he's really stupid enough to put someone on the highest court in the land whose views are a complete wild card.

Weird. This post almost makes sense.

I'm gonna assume that the tree is speaking.

The cherry on the Kagan Sundae, of course, is that she's a past consultant for Goldman Sachs.

I don't see how her limited contact and pay supplied by Goldman has any bearing on any of this.

Why should this be considered to be "The Cherry?"

From 2005 through 2008, Kagan was a member of the Research Advisory Council of the Goldman Sachs Global Markets Institute. The group met once a year and she received a $10,000.00 stipend.

Whoooopiddy-dooo!

Does this really constitute "cherry" material....Seems more like a bit of peanut at the bottom of the bowl.

I wonder if she found that gig on Craigslist.

Everything part-time I could find involves cleaning feces.

Then again, I hear Lloyd Blankfein shits gold.

So let me see if I understand.

You constantly criticize the "mainstream media" but when it suits your purpose then they are champions of truth, justice, and the American way?

additionally, she was a law professor at UniChitown and Harvard.  I suspect in that time she passed a few lawyers and judges into the legal world, some democrats, some republicans.

I think she has a record that can be examined and vetted at the law school.

rulemylife -> RE: Elena Kagan, pick for the Supreme Court (5/12/2010 1:57:52 PM)

But does she have any executive experience?

"Does so and so have executive experience?": the most blatant euphemism for "Does so and so swallow?" ever.

mnottertail -> RE: Elena Kagan, pick for the Supreme Court (5/12/2010 2:14:25 PM)

well she was a deputy legal counsel in the Clinton white house, so while she may not have actually swallowed, we can take some cold comfort in the fact that she gave legal advise some who wanted girls to swallow, but shot such a big gob that a portion of it defiled a piece of clothing.

President Obama called her,..............."a leader."
I wonder who she "lead?"
I bet *everyone* in Washington D.C. thinks they're some type of,........................"leader."
I'm combing the News sites for the phrase,......................"Brilliant Legal Scholor." Nothing yet!

mnottertail -> RE: Elena Kagan, pick for the Supreme Court (5/12/2010 2:35:55 PM)

"Brilliant Legal Scholor."

check your spelling, there's a small part of your problem

[:'(]  I don't even want to think about that.

That's either the homeliest woman or the prettiest man I have ever seen.

kittinSol -> RE: Elena Kagan, pick for the Supreme Court (5/12/2010 2:42:14 PM)

It just came from the fact that I call "that" executive stress relief whenever I administer it [8D] .

More seriously, wasn't it during her tenure under Clinton that the GOP did everything they could to prevent her from getting fully confirmed, thus preventing her from acquiring the EE they're now accusing her of not having?

How do you expect me to concentrate on your question when I'm still thinking about you providing executive stress relief?

kittinSol -> RE: Elena Kagan, pick for the Supreme Court (5/12/2010 2:48:26 PM)

That's what my sadistic charm is all about.

Blah Blah Blah...anyone who isn't a libtard can see very very clearly that this person
