My youngest lost a tooth today. I knew it was coming so I made sure to have the tooth fairy money.
It's nine o'clock and she just informed me that she wrote a letter to the tooth fairy asking for the speckle dust that that tooth fairy left for her friend.
I know for a fact that I don't have any glitter whatsoever at all in the entire house.
I need ideas of what I can use as a substitute. Keep in mind that I can't leave the house as I'm the only adult and they are tucked in.

I forgot once about the lost tooth and my daughter woke up to discover that and burst into tears. I quickly called her into the kitchen and at her seat was an envelope with money and a note saying that the tooth fairy had no room left so would pick up the tooth later that day. I signed it T. Fairy. It worked and saved the day.

Perhaps a note saying she was out of glitter but would drop it off later?

Take some glass bottles of different colors, smash them with a hammer, and sprinkle the glass fragments all over her pillow. Kids that age won't be able to tell the difference.

find a glittery t-shirt or something.. they always lose their glitter! if you have a daughter, she must have something glittery somewhere.. [;)]

edited to add.. once you find the glittery items, scrape some of it off till you have enough.

Who asks for glitter at nine at night????
Just went through all of the craft boxes. They have no glitter clothes. Bah.
Scraped some glittery stuff off of lettering for scrapbooking, but I don't think it will be enough.

The broken glass idea was funny....

Have you any tin foil and any of those hole punches for paper?

I don't know if those paper punches work on tin foil but it's worth a shot!

if you have any aluminum foil, cut it up into tiny little pieces.

You can combine salt and flour with a little bit of water, just enough for it to be crumbly, color it with food dye and mix in the aluminum foil.  bake in the oven at 450 degress.  Then break it up once its cooked into tiny pieces.  You'll have safe, non-toxic colorful glittery fun stuff to sprinkle on her pillow.    I can get you the actual recipe if you need it, or you can google salt dough for the recipe.

Okay, i am not trying to ruin the party, but are you sure she means glitter that is sprinkled or could her friend have gotten a container of some type of glitter they can wear or make stuff with etc crafts or something instead of money?

We have supermarkets that deliver for a few extra bucks.  Maybe you do in NJ, and maybe they carry glitter?

Write her a note saying she doesn't carry it on this route, problem solved.

Or you could get really involved with the note, tell here there was an accident at the glitter factory or that the glitter fairies are on vacation. Or Santa's evil panda toy stole all her glitter dust for a foul prank on poor Rudolph...
