This thread ain't about spanking the beaver. It's about doing some thing to see what kind if any of reaction you get out somebody.

A few days ago, I decided to make my profile active and simply look or check out other profiles. I did'nt respond to any profiles. However, I made my presence known in checking things out. Made a few posts on the threads too.

I was curious if somebody had a hidden/fake/alter/alias account. Well, this was concidence. That somebody is rather upset or not talking to me at the moment. Now, I could understand this behavior, if I had responded to a profile, but that ain't the case.

I know people will at times stoop to using hidden/fake/alternative accounts to see if they can catch somebody being less than honest. Personally, I don't have a problem with anybody resorting to these tactics.

Anyways, my phone conversation ended up very brief today after a couple of days with no response. Mind you, they could be upset about something else, but this is a concidence. Odd? All I did was a little mild beating around the Bush to see if I would get any reaction from it. Houston, think we have a problem.

My question is such, if you had a fake or alternative account on CM, and somebody you involved with checked out that profile but never responded to it. What would you be thinking? Would you fess up to it? What would you think of somebody fessing up to doing a little bush beating to see if you had a fake/alternative account?

I've never had a fake account, but I did for a short while have an alternative sub profile, before I gave up attempting to be something I wasn't.

A couple of people from the forums viewed it during its dying days. Each time I had the urge to memo them and go 'This is VaguelyCurious! Don't say anything you wouldn't want me to hear!!!' in case they memo-ed me. I felt a bit guilty,  but not enough to make me close the profile for that reason alone.

Only one person from the forums memo-ed me in the end, and that was to call me a fake and a man (no, I won't say who it was). I didn't reply, but I did laugh long and hard. That I didn't feel guilty about in the least.

I think you (generic) might feel much more guilty/defensive if you had an alternate profile for some kind of 'nefarious' reason (subterfuge-y stuff, I don't know...), rather than just to represent a different facet of what you were looking for.

I'd wonder how my life had reached the point at which I had a top-secret account on an internet kink site and someone I was involved with was snooping around to check up on my own clandestine internet activities.  If my internet life ever reached that particular point of byzantine intrigue, I'd be tempted to move into a cabin in the woods with only a copy of Infinite Jest and enough canned goods to last a long, long time.

Honestly, I'm a neurotic egomaniac but I try to keep my dealings with people sufficiently straightforward that my life never comes to imitate Saved by the Bell.

Disclaimer:

I have, at various points in my internet life, trolled.  But that is always done in harlequin regalia and comical Groucho glasses while honking a big horn in such a way that nobody could possibly take the character seriously.

I would think they thought your alternate account sucked just as much as your primary, and let the electrons expire..........unmolested.

Yuppers, you got fucked again.  This place is deceptive, all the fakes and liars and scammers and people who post intriguing subjects and the body of the post is right out of a used toilet.

I'd grin, I suspect.

Would you fess up to it?

If they were someone I cared about - they'd most likely know if its existence anyway, if they didn't know, yes I'd fess up.

If it wasn't someone I care about particularly I'd probably not say anything.
quote:

If they were someone I cared about I'd say "silly you! all you needed to do was ask!"

otherwise, I wouldn't mind eitherway!

I guess it would depend on the relationship - I think in most cases I'd fess up to the profile and pretend to be pissed that the other person hadn't trolled me.

The irony is that maybe you ought to have set up a fake account to do your columbo-like activities?

If Master checked out anyone's profile, I wouldn't take issue with it. He's an adult, He's in charge and He's able to do whatever He likes without me pouting 'round about it. If Him simply viewing someone else's profile upset me, I would take serious inventory of myself. Being that jealous/possessive wouldn't work out too well in our relationship. As a matter of fact, it would end it. Even if He DID respond to another's profile, again, that's His business, His choice and not something I would think twice about - unless He got somewhere and she was hot and I'd get to share. Then I'd think about it alot

I wouldn't create a "fake" profile to begin with but, if I did, and He simply looked at it and that upset me.....I'd have to sadly realize I've got some major issues. I think I'd be pretty ashamed to 'fess up but would probably do so in the end to try to work out my feelings. Hard to imagine such a situation really. Interesting scenario you have there............luci

Lemme get this straight... you use a fake account to stalk someone... Sounds like a bad Spy vs Spy cartoon <And you know how those ended up> I am not jumping threw those hoops to "catch someone". It's far easier to DumpTheMotherFuckerAlready!!! Unless of course I worked for the CIA then Id just put a "contract" out on the "untrustworthy EVIL DOER.

I'd be asking myself why I had such suspicions anyway that I needed to resort to such low tactics which imo is exactly what it is...low.

Which one is it?

I think OA has a point, when you find yourself in such drama, you got to start asking yourself some questions about your behaviour and why such energy is wasted on this.

Deception is deception. Have I been deceptive in the past, sure. We all have been at one point or another in our lives. And I dealt with the consequences. I strive to no longer be.

I've met a few guys here who have both a Dom & a sub account and I find this out because they log in and message me with the wrong one. That is when I cut them off because I need someone who is more sure about who he is.

Neither of you feel like you can be honest with each other and just talk things out. If I were either one of you, I'd leave it. You're wasting each other's time.

It's not necessarily to do with being sure about who you are-it might just be that you want very different things from a potential submissive partner than from a potential dominant partner.

I understand your point of view VC and that might be fine is someone is looking for playpartners. However, that is not my case.

If someone is a switch, I want them to be upfront with me about this. Case in point, I'm bisexual. I'm not looking for a relationship with a woman. That said, I'm transparent about this duality within me.

What the OP did sounds like what goes on in the girls bathroom at a high school dance. But, I see his point. If he is in a serious relationship he should tell the person what he found and cut off the relationship. A lie is a lie is a lie. If he has been lied to once he will be lied to again. If he is not in a serious relationship it's none of his business. If he is uncomfortable with the person having alternative profiles he should stop seeing them.

I don't need to ask myself, I already know. While this is a little low, I could have gone much lower. Just at times I will reach down low to catch the low balls being thrown in life. Still the Ground comes up rather fast.

So, you really don't have any confirmation that she actually has an alternate profile? You're just assuming because she appears to be angry with you around the same time you viewed profiles? It would be a stretch to me to jump to that conclusion. Maybe I'm reading this OP all wrong.

Anywho.....the man looks at profiles all of the time. Female ones too (gasp). It means someone either said something interesting, funny, or stupid on the message boards or the profile showed a picture of good looking legs, tits or ass. Either way...makes no difference to me.

LOL, Yeah some times life itself is that dance with people with an assortment of issues. Mind you the girls in the bathroom at most high schools would have things beat down to an art form.

I just did'nt mindlessly do this without any reason, but what the hell. It's not the alternative profile that bother me.

At the moment, what bothers me is not getting straight-talk answers. I not have any problem owning up or admitting to what I did. Like OMG, I set my profile to active and checked out some profiles. Made a few message board posts.
