No, we don't hear ourselves in our head the same way others hear us. I remember as a kid playing with a tape recorder and being shocked about that. Now, because of answering machines and such, I am used to it. I don't love my voice, it sounds flat to me. But I get compliments on it quite often so it must not be as bad as I think it is. Some even think my voice is sexy but.....whatever. It's pretty mid range, maybe even a bit lower, in tone. I don't really have an accent persay. Apparently the midwest is the most accentless part of the country. I do get lazy and easily pick up accents from others. If I am spending time with southerners........yep, guaranteeeeed I will be talking just like them in no time. How you breath can and does affect the sound of a persons voice. Pull from the diaphragm and it will sound much better.
