You're talking to someone who thinks a flap of skin is a fully functional organ and you want to discuss genetics?

Good point.

No, it is not a good point. thishereboi by this remark demonstrates ignorance as to what constitutes an organ.

Gene pool? Is your mastery of genetics rehabiliting lamarckian hereditary now?

No. I have never advocated any Lamarckian evolution on these boards.

I have already explained the devious way in which circumcision affects the frequency of deleterious alleles in the gene pool, perhaps in this very thread, but apparently you either have not read those posts, or you did not pay attention to their contents. Ordinary people often only see the false truths that they want to see instead of the genuine truth that manifests before their eyes.

In this case I'm more wondering how in hell's name a surgical procedure can have any impact at all on somebody at a genetic level.

See? You do not pay attention.

To you? No, I try to ignore your posts as much as I can. You rarely have anything that isn't batshit demented to say, after all.

englishmale7 -> RE: What is Lost Due to Circumcision? (6/3/2010 10:03:05 AM)

Try:

Lots of nerves and associated sensation, the ability to masturbate (or be masturbated) properly, natural protection (particularly as your skin ages in later years), a natural appearance and doubtless a component of attraction to the opposite sex (or whatever sex we are into).

I was circumcised at birth and it has been a cause of regret for me for many years. It is no less than mutilation, whether it be medical or religious ignorance -- I would do anything to have it otherwise (indeed, am doing, with progressive skin stretching to try and restore some form of sheath -- coming along nicely, but will take a couple of years at this rate)

Funny you should mention that. I was circumcised myself (this phimosis business that has been referred to a few times in this thread had me dripping on my shoes). I haven't as yet had any trouble masturbating, and a couple of your other points are contradictory: loss of nerves and associated sensations and a loss of natural protection seem to be at odds. Surely that's one or the other?

That is okay. Do not feel bad about your inability to make sense of my posts. Many people may struggle in the same way. I am sure that you excel in other ways in which I am severely deficient.

Yet, you seem to have misread my post. The "you" is the group, not you specifically.

You seem to have misread the definition of the word you. I get that you're using the plural form, even still by using that word and addressing the post to me you've included me in that group and are attacking me personally. If you weren't looking to do that you should have used a word like "they".

this led to the simplistic speculation that Guiteau's murderous behavior was due to phimosis-induced insanity.[42]

[sm=jaw.gif]  I certainly hope you've never told your son that these were the reasons you had part of his genitalia cut off.

Maybe she had reason to believe that she had made love to and gotten fertilized by a male with a deleterious allele for phimosis? Perhaps because he had been circumcised to inappropriately treat him for that abnormality? She would have done better to have gotten herself fertilized by a lover without that hereditary defect, by someone with a normal penis.

Yet you used your own personal experience to trash.

I do, because I believe I have a right to do so, having had this mutilation done without my consent and furthermore, the events that lead up to it by advice from a so called medical professional who just happens to have a family name from a sect that has believed in the circumcision of males from a very long time ago. Hence my reasoning that the procedure, or at least the procedure in my case had overtones of religious zeal attached, either that or said medical professional was not worth their qualification and status.

Tazzygirl, with you I am coming rapidly to the conclusion you are not liking some of the comments made here, specifically from those that oppose your view on the procedure. I also understand the poster under the name of GotSteel had a very pertinent point when he deduced that you advocated the mutilation of your own child on the grounds of  health when it is much of what is linked on here is from relatively present times, not twenty four years ago. In this case, I will be interested to read if you can come up with literature from before twenty four years ago that supports everything that you have linked to from the present time. If not, I can only deduce that you like so many others blindly followed what the medical professional advocated and believed what they told you, be it pseudo science or religious in intent.

Close but no cigar. The problem is more that you're talking utter crap in the first place than the drivel you come out with being hard to follow.

Considering that you pay no attention to my posts, considering that you have the delusional impression that my linking circumcision in a population to the high percentage occurrence of inherited diseases in such a population, is a Lamarckian mechanism, and considering that you - unlike me - are a lay person with no background at all in biology, and are wrong besides, my position is that your uninformed opinion as regards the value of my posts, is utterly worthless. That seems to me to be a reasonable conclusion, not so?

No, it is not.
If you did have a background in biology, for a start, you wouldn't be spouting most of the tripe you come out with whenever circumcision gets mentioned in the first place.

Moonhead -> RE: What is Lost Due to Circumcision? (6/3/2010 2:34:07 PM)

Oh, and if you don't have the balls to stand behind your comments, perhaps you should refrain from making them in the first place?

ModeratorSixteen -> RE: What is Lost Due to Circumcision? (6/3/2010 2:34:29 PM)

People continuing this back and forth ENOUGH now.
