I support everyone's rights to self expression and I honestly assert that what anyone wants to do with their own body is completely up to them.
Having said that I hate tattoos, find them repellent, disgusting, unsightly, and a total turn off, on anybody.
I shocked a girl who came to see us when she started going on about having ink work done by telling her that that was fine and dandy but if she did , that it would put her out of my consideration right away.
If you get a tattoo that's up to you. But I don't like them, any one else?

I agree about 169%. No jewelry, piercings, nothing. I don't like any of it on anyone, it's a bunch of bullshit.

I have and am considering one tattoo, but it is an extremely strong political statement. I haven't done it but have considered it. It would consist of the statue of liberty with her torch burning the Consitution. If I do this it is a committment. It is forever. It has to do with among the firmest of my political views about immigration, legal or illegal.

But really, such a thing would not be for decorative purposes.

In fact, find me a broad who has never even had her ears pierced and I would like to talk to her. Fuck all that bling. Tattoos are the same thing. People want them because they look cool, not me. I either make a statement or I don't, and it would be a lifelong statement, not something I take lightly. Even a tattoo for membership in some organisation maybe, but never, ever for decoration.

so people only want tattoos because they look cool. but since yours would be a political statement and you would be making a lifelong commitment...its ok? sorry, i do not mean to cause offense but i don't agree with your standpoint. i'm not a fan of people who get completely random tattoos that have no significance behind them. however, MANY people get ink work that is heavily symbolic to them. i have 3 myself and i didnt get because they were going to "look cool". they are for me and me alone. they mean a lot to me and i could careless what others think of them. so once again- sorry if i'm being rude, but you seem a bit judgemental in your post and for considering a tattoo, you come off a bit hypocritical. just my honest opinion.

I'm fascinated by tattoos, and often find them extremely well done pieces of craft, but I do tend to prefer very, very little of it on a partner.

I have 5 and plan on at least 4 more that are art, and at least 18 that are descriptive. Each tattoo I have will have 2 Kanji symbols that explain the meaning of each tattoo.

As for it being cool, Each tattoo that i have means much more then being cool. I actually have all my pieces easily hidden and if you didnt have me topless, you wouldnt know I had any. But it doesnt matter which way i look, I am reminded of very important values I hold dear to myself, values that will never change, I designed each and every tattoo myself.

Most people dont get tattoos to be cool, most get them because they are symbolic, they mean something important to the person. I personally wouldnt want an owner, who would degrade something that means so much to me.

I've not given it much thought on the whole.

It depends how it is done and whether or not it fits an overall theme, like those icons on your desktop they all have to be done by the same artist or artist with the same style or they look out of place. In short it should be like a Window XP theme, consistently samey.

The main problem occurs when you want to change the style of the overall theme, which seems to occur.

I know this topic has come up before. However, i will chime in again. I have one tattoo on my back. It is a very simple black outline kind of thing. I designed it. It took me ten years to decide to actually have it done, and when I did I was delighted. It speaks to who I am and what I believe on a spiritual level. I also had it done for my birthday when I lived in South America. That was the year of sowing my wild oats. It was like a... celebration and recognition of that wonderful time of my life. It is something that I love. I loved designing it, figuring out what was most important to me and what made sense in my life. Then the wait... making sure it was right. Then the finding of the people to do the actual tattooing. It was quite a joy. The actual experience was amazingly sensual. I loved it.

I would love to have another one just for the experience. However, there is nothing that calls to me like that design called me. Lovers do enjoy touching it, tracing it... I've been told it's simple and elegant.

I like tattoos if they have relevance and meaning for the wearer.

I have one small one and, like sunshine, I waited many many years to get it done.

Mine isn't finished yet - I'm still working on the final part. But when it's done, it will be my own personal celebration of inner strength over adversity.

If me having one very small, discreet tattoo is enough for someone to not want the rest of me, then I doubt they'd be the kind of person I'd really want to invest a lot of time in.

geez i so shouldn't post on this thread but.....

Everybody's gonna be different...the whole arguement over tattooes or no is pointless since whether you like them or not it will NOT stop someone from getting art they want. And just because you personally may disagree with someone getting inked doesn't give you the right to bash or smack talk them over it.

Having very very reciently gone through this when i went out for dinner a few nights ago i was shocked that some random person would have the balls to even concider coming up and deciding to tell me how much they hated tattooes and how bad of a person i was for having them

So yea nothing personal to anyone here but FYI its our choice not anybody elses

I also dislike body modifications; tattoos, multiple piercings, branding, scarification etc.
But I also know that the younger generation has very different views about it then people of my age do.

With that said, neither of my kids have any ink yet. And that if they get it, it better be in a place that can be covered by dress clothes.

Oh boy, we are going to have a tattoo thread, just like a fat thread but a whole 'nother set of people to be offended.

OP, why not just note your dislike in your profile and carry on with your life. You aren't going to convert the inked to your way of thinking, and it just annoys them.

I have quite a few tats.
All of them are spiritual in meaning or a memorial to a loved one who has passed on or to something that has happened in my life.
I would like to get a few more in the future but that will be up to Master to decide.
Mine are all tastefully done I think and while at times they can be a hindrance due to my line of work, I wouldn't change any of them.
Tats can be covered up when they aren't appropriate for certain situations....unless you have them on your face or something like that. Otherwise to me they aren't that big a deal.

OP Everyone has personal preferences. This just happens to be on of yours,which you have a right to. It seems pretty simple to me if you don't want to get involved with someone with body modifications then be up front about that from JUMP. I currently have 7 tattoos and they each tell a story, they each depict a significant part of my life. I can easily cover them up with clothing or make-up if its not apporiate where I am going. However, I rarely need to do that. The people I tend to grafitate to and vice versa either have body modifications or enjoy them for what they are self expression and art.

When I was owned my owners had a say in any modifications that I got while we were together, but again they were not opposed to my tattoos. Infact they were attracted to them. To each their own again its all about personal preferences and being honest with yourself and those that interact with.

I am certainly not a fan of tattoos but I don't have a zero tolerance tattoo policy, either. The things I would consider are how many, how big, what they are and where they are. They are so ubiquitous these days that people probably wouldn't even mention them if you don't ask and those of us who do not have them seem like the minority. Simply being tattooed is not a deal breaker for me. There is a line beyond which the tattoos by themselves (or even a tattoo by itself) could become a deal breaker. I am in a long term relationship but if I was looking I have different criteria for serious relationships versus more casual relationships. I would be much more relaxed about tattoos in the latter.

My submissive has two tattoos - one small and another medium sized. They are hidden by 90% of her wardrobe. I honestly cannot tell you the last time I saw her naked and noticed either of those tattoos. As long as the person doesn't look like that woman that Jesse James shagged or like the folks on LA Ink (or any situation where the tattoos are in your field of view at all times) sometimes a few tattoos just fade into the landscape to the point where they are no longer noticeable.

Edited to add: As this thread is already showing... one of the things that turns me off about tattoos is the way some of the inked crowd can be so combative about it.
