That said, I fully agree with the title of the original post, from both a physiological and psychological perspective. In regards the "Notice", it DOES seem moderately paranoid, not to mention demonstrative of a gross misunderstanding of both the nature of surveys, and of sites on the web. NO legitimate survey is going to base it's data-collection on such specious and unsubstantiatable claims and statements as those made here. Secondly, all that hogwash about legal recourse ignores the fact that ANYTHING you post ANYWHERE on the web may as well be posted on a roadside billboard, you surrendered any expectation of privacy when you posted your information, ESPECIALLY if you post a picture. If a survey DID post it's findings, no identifiable information would be attached to the data in any case, ie "98% of dominatrixes indicated they engaged in strapon use" so, you'd never be able to prove that YOUR information was included in the survey, and that damages were caused.
 
Time for a high colonic reality-check, folks.

It does look a little paranoid, but I don't think paranoia is driving it.  Its people trying to overstate the importance of their life to a society that has already kicked them to the curb. They are trying to one-up the society that discarded them, even if its only in their mind.

How has society kicked us to the curb? I work full time in society, i spend money in society, my house is on the same street as society - how am i shunned by society?
If it is because of how i love to live my life indoors, away from society - then you are making my life more grand than it is. I don't think society gives a flying flip about what i do when it isn't around - much as society could care less how my neighbours get their kicks behind closed doors.

As for the disclaimer - it doesn't hurt anything - except maybe your feelings. Really, if it offends you that much, when you come across one of "those" profiles, block it, don't read it - just stay away from it. It really is that simple.

Status: offline 		Honesty-time!!!  Society DOES, as a whole, consider activities such as those espoused here, as "Fringe", and psychologically relegates us to the margins of their world.(Pulls up to the curb and sets parking brake) Our chosen ways AREN'T mainstream, we all accept that. That some here are possibly insecure about possible focused ridicule should their involvement become known to the world at large, particularly to employers and other such is understandable. Folks need to learn to guard their privacy, and to understand that, in the online world, there ARE no sureties of privacy, and that anything they post CAN and WILL be used by those seeking to discredit. I have one word to the wise on that subject, "FACEBOOK"
