Excellent comments. brainiac. They seem to have stopped the discussion of the bigger points dead cold.

As for the Rex post, I surmise that he was speaking to one individual, whereas my post incriminates the larger group, for being passive spectators to social problems (at best) and active enablers to social problems (at worst). I guess the gang of merry commenters don't like that much, spawning the mentally-creative among them to assert that I am suddenly an unemployed woman-hater with a bias against single parenting. I guess they are just doin' what they do.

I wouldn't make this a "which side of the tracks" issue, as there are plenty of smart and privileged people out there who chronically make some very boneheaded life choices, just as much as there are uneducated, underprivileged people coming from an abused upbringing who make some very smart life choices when on their own. I think its more an issue of personal responsibility and self-control, and less of the "uncontrollable" influences like education, upbringing and poverty.

As for my profile, ask the site admins why it can't be seen. I have it on. I have made 2 requests to support, both unanswered. Of course, I dont know what the forum folks who live to make that an issue will do next.

I was happy to deflate this thread. The mob mentality that overtakes some of these discussions is getting tiresome. In this case there were at least a few people who are generally very intelligent and thoughtful who got caught up in it, and unfortunately the mob just happened to be wrong this time. Don't let this experience frame your opinions of these forums or its participants.

Don't misunderstand me either. I am not taking sides here, and you aren't getting an unconditional pass from me. The reaction you got was not entirely unjustified. You are new to these boards and my best advice to you is to spend a little time getting to know your audience before you jump in with both feet.

If you came to the Political and Religious threads and announced that Obama was a Bolshevik Marxist, you would have your balls cleanly sliced off and handed to you on a platter. Hell, I'd hold your dick out of the way while they did it. You would be wise to read a little bit before you post.

On this side of the forums, you should take note that the women outnumber the men 10 to 1. Sometimes a little sensitivity in how you say things can go a long way in fostering good will. Don't believe me? Just start a fat chick thread. You will quickly find your balls in a vise and squeezed until they burst. Then they'll remove them from your nutsack with a dull razorblade, boil them in vinegar, and feed them to you while they're still attached to your body. 7, 8, or even 10 pages in to this torture and you'll wish you had just called Obama a Marxist. A number of new posters have gotten a healthy dose of testicle lately and it's not pleasant. Women can be bitches that way.
