ORIGINAL: pahunkboy Phones and cars can now have viruses- so if we transhuman our self it is plausible. that is what chips are. "transhuman" and hopefully you do not want to go there. So are pacemakers. And prosthetics, vaccinations, dental work, hip replacements, knee replacements, me taking insulin as injections rather than my pancreas manufacturing it for me, any form of vision correction at all, hearing aids, surgery, blood transfusions... You'd be cool with doing away all of that and living like an Amish, would you? I didn't have you pegged as an extropian, but for Christ's sake, have you no bloody idea at all how widespread and pervasive this shit is? That stuff is not a chip. Chipping you voids your brain. Get it? You do not download programming into a human. it is sick. I think you've read too much William Gibson, mate. The chip in question is an identity device that transmits and receives radio waves. There's no way in hell it can have any connection to the victim's nervous system. Do you think it comes without any firmware in the first place, or something?
