Commandos aren't in the habit of broadcasting their intentions, too many of them get killed when they do that. The people aboard these ships were obviously not of peaceful intent, this wasn't a grade school carnival these people were trying to run through a blockade.

How would telling them and the world 2 weeks ago they would allow the aid but only after an inspection be broadcasting their intentions... they already knew they would not allow them to dock.

Well the blockade had been up...the flotilla *knew* that....and Israel has an official passage into Gaza...so does Egypt...the flotilla *knew* that too. So yes, months upon months in advance it was public knowledge that those wishing to send aid could do so through official channels.

Gotta laugh.

Our Foreign Secretary just pronounced on this from RAF Northolt. In the background was a Spitfire aircraft with its number on the fuselage, either side of the round, red white and blue RAF marking. It might just have been a coincidence but with the first letters being SZ, followed by the circular marking and G at the end, ZOG stood out proud for all to see.

You are of course aware that the blockade has been strictly enforced by Israel and Egypt for months? Egypt opened the Rafa crossing this morning following this incident.

The Gaza Strip is the world's largest open air prison camp. That Israel persists in its policy on account of Hamas merely strengthens Palestinian resentment and resistance, and so strengthens Hamas. In the outside world meanwhile it portrays Israel in a horrendous light, which this incident has only exacerbated.

Thanks to quick editing and the nations of the world willing to believe Israel is infallibly evil....this was passed on successfully as a cluster bomb hitting a civilian market place.

-- I tend to think that neither party is innocent in the above matter.

I abhor any propaganda- and it is everywhere.

The region really must learn to get along and I mean all of it- both the white folks and the brown folks.

I do not support the Israeli embargo on Gaza in its current form. However, in this action, the naval infantry were lightly armed with only pistols and encountered fierce resistance. The ship, while in international seas, was within the Israeli economic zone which by treaty most nations recognize to be a legitimate area to enforce an embargo.

This is a fiasco. I supported Isreal in the past, but not now. The Palestinians are too weak to warrant this kind of draconian measures. That said, it's not all black and white--you ran a military blockade and refuse to cease and desist after being boarded, you should expect to receive fire. Ditto for Israel: if you blockade, you will have to be prepared to shoot people and justify it to the international community, right now they are doing a poor job.

Israel's capability has been showing worrying signs of erosion since their last invasion of Lebanon, IMHO.

Ok- the intel was lacking.

Ships- it seem to me SHOULD be searched for contraband.   The ship crew should know that.  However if Israel is unable to do such searches then a 3rd party should.
