Ohhh do I know what you are talking about! Facebook is a godsend for me and my people. I use skype - video cam. I can call cell phones and landlines for 2 cents a minute in the USA. For xmas, one of my peeps shows me the pumpkin pie and says "here's your piece" and proceeds to eat it in front of me, taunting me with yum mmmm the whole time (where do they learn this stuff?) It's silly, but it made me really feel a part of things. I also sometimes play games on yahoo with people. You can chat while you play. We send silly little things - I send weird candies and foods and stuff I find here. They send me decaf coffee and tea and books (got a package today - thanks darling!) We share photos, stupid every day stuff. I have also made sure to get stickers and art books or even ads from magazines. We send each other stuff. No words necessary> Remember that the receiving of mail or whatever is a joy. It doesn't need to be a 5 page letter. I like to have a specific time I talk to folks (for me Sat. a.m. and them Fri. night). I put that aside every week for my peeps. I don't always get to talk to everyoen as often as I'd like to, but at least there is a time set aside. Sometimes people will watch the same movie as I do, and then we have a focus of what to talk about. That's kind of cool. For Red's birthday (DaddysRedHead) on here, she had a big b'day party, and I couldn't be there, but hejira took her computer and I was able to participate in the dinner and drink a toast with them because of skype cam. I'm sure the people in the restaurant thought it was weird to have a computer at the dinner table, but who cares? I also keep a blog that a number of people subscribe to and even more just pop on and read what I have to say. We are also doing Sunny's Book Club to get folks into doing something kind of intellectual. That's it off the top of my head. sunshine (in Korea) oh yeah, one thing I did which didn't take a *lot* of work but did take some work. I put together a slide show of my every day life. Walking out the front door, the stores I passed on my way to work, the place I had lunch, stopping by the grocery store, pix of my pharmacist, the guy who washed my clothes, the street dogs, the weird food being sold on the street, etc... just regular every day stuff so people could see the people in my life, the places I go. It was pretty cool. In fact, I would urge people to do that just for fun. It's actually kind of interesting to see what you don't see unless you are really looking.
