Thats because you useful idiots are a dime a dozen - merely throwing your feces doesn't require you to think therefore even you and Dr Joseph Mengele Panda can come here and fling your poo in between your eating large portions of it.

I've sometimes been curious why a dim-witted Joseph Mengele type would choose a name like panda.

I don't obsess over it though, the way you obviously obsess over me.

You unwittingly (no pun intended) put your finger on how socialism is in large part responsible for the skyrocketing costs of America's health care system.

Providers can bill government for $400 toilet seats and $1000 hammers and the government will pay it, which then becomes the accepted cost for everyone because of the laws of supply and demand. Government will pay $4000 for a wheel chair that normally sells for $1000? Why let it go for a measly thousand then. Merc (I believe it was Merc) has detailed the electric wheel chair scams and how such scams affect everyones costs, and that Medicare pushes a lions share of the costs that it artificially generates within the system off onto private insurance and ultimately onto individual citizens.

Government does a great job of getting in the way and though it may be well intentioned it doesn't seem that there is ever any effort put in to trimming waste or ensuring that its not making itself more of a burden on the system than a help.

Bureaucrats don't have to care, their funding doesn't depend on job performance and they know that if they trim costs then they're trimming their own jobs back.

Sanity is a small minded person that thinks without profits that all human endeavors cease to exist. That charity is for the weak. That medicare is not socialized medicine.

The reality is we have a huge problem. A surgeon can bill medicare over $17,000 for a hip replacement....Medicare might approve one tenth that amount. Either way not bad for around an hours work.

You want to stay competitive in a global marketplace?....Fix the cost of health care.

You will find that you attract a "better" class of Drs and at the same time achieve an overall healthier population.

You prove your ignorance by the post. You apparently have no idea how medicare works. Please don't use merc as a resource. It's a fools path.

Medicare is the advocacy program that cuts expenditures down to extremely reasonable costs......Try going to your doctor and ask if you can get your hip done for $1,500.00.

The doctor bills medicare 15 -17k, he/she only receives what medicare "approves." This is why doctors dislike medicare. If a doctor accepts medicare assignment the doctor is forced to accept what medicare approves.

A $200 xray.....Medicare approves $32.00.

While the working world struggles to make healt care affordable.....Our seniors bask in the glow of socialized medicine.

I don't want the healthcare that the President and the Senate have, I want medicare part A & B.

Americans are stupid people.

Back to the topic - of course the solution in the mind of at least one Canadian bureaucrat, is to wrest even more control from the private sector. Less capitalism, and more Marxism is always the answer, isn't it? Regardless of the problem;

quote:

Other problems include trying to control independently set salaries for top hospital executives and doctors and rein in spiraling costs for new medical technologies and drugs.

Ontario says healthcare could eat up 70 percent of its budget in 12 years, if all these costs are left unchecked.

"Our objective is to preserve the quality healthcare system we have and indeed to enhance it. But there are difficult decisions ahead and we will continue to make them," Ontario Finance Minister Dwight Duncan told Reuters.

The province has introduced legislation that ties hospital chief executive pay with the quality of patient care and says it wants to put more physicians on salary to save money.

In a report released last week, TD Bank said Ontario should consider other proposals to help cut costs, including scaling back drug coverage for affluent seniors and paying doctors according to quality and efficiency of care.

Lucylastic -> RE: Soaring costs force Canada to reassess health model (6/3/2010 7:17:39 AM)

you must have stocks in insurance and pharma companies.

When the health system worries about shareholders pockets more than the end user/patient thats when the system is broken.
Guess what!!

Sanity -> RE: Soaring costs force Canada to reassess health model (6/3/2010 7:24:16 AM)

If its not business, if theres nothing to be gained, why should the best and the brightest go into that field if they can have a far better life by applying their talents somewhere else?

Example - doesn't Canada have a problem with doctors abandoning your system due to low pay as it is? Thats what I hear, at least.

Sometimes I suspect thats why you Canadians are so vocal about trying to destroy whats left of America's health care system, you think your doctors and other providers will quit coming here if there isn't an incentive for them to do so.

Have you ever in your life read a history book?

The Soviet Union was an experiment in which they pulled out all of the stops to try to make socialism work, and that experiment went on for well over forty years.

So you think the czar was a better deal?

The Chinese socialism experiment is over, it has failed after several generations.

Obviously you have never been to china which is flooding the u.s. with tons of cheap merchandise...yeah they are all starving in the streets and are crying for the emperor to return.

Cuba is failing,

For fifty plus years the most powerful nation on earth has tried to crush that country. We have invaded it and got our asses kicked. We have tried to murder its president a half dozen times and been singularly unsucsessful. We have tried to bully others into not trading with them and still they are there and that just sticks in your ass like a huge cock.

North Korea is a failure.
They are such a huge failure that we don't have the balls to try to fuck with them militarily since the last time they gave the u.s. army a spanking.

and the European model is in a steep nose dive.

Rhetoric with out substance

Venezuela is going to hell under their big socialist moron...

That "socialist moron" got reelected to a second six year term after the u.s. tried to kill him.
But you think the fascist dictators who ruled as our proxy were a better deal. It seems your high republican ideals only support dictators and have no support for the will of the people who are governed.
Why do you hate the foundations of american freedom?

I disagree with Sanity too on this subject but your post is full of errors.

The Soviet Union was an experiment in communism. Communism is an economic model that collectivizes ownership of all property, not just the means of production.

This collectivization requires a comprehensive central govt. (Kremlin/Politburo) control to the extent it must become a form of fascism.

Socialism is an economic model where the govt. ownership of most (partial) or all of the various means of production...ONLY. No matter what the capitalist propaganda would have you believe. Socialism allows for the private ownership of most everything else including land and private ownership in stock corporations.

My statement concerning russia was simply "Do you think the czar was a better deal"...what does your rant have to do with my question?

China is the future...capitalist fascism. China is the capitalists wet-dream, a billion slaves from whom to skim riches as the so-called communist enjoys now. The idea that all of this sits well with that rural, ignorant slave labor of China is a ridiculous joke. They put the Greeks and all others to shame with 70,000-80,000 riots every year. The govt. just has more bullets.

Again how does your rant address my statement?

Cuba is failing and that failure has been prolonged by handouts from the fascist leftist friends like Chavez's oil for example.

Just like chavez gives the poor in the u.s. handouts proping up capitalism.

Despite what the US did (nothing for 30 years)

Bay of pigs was nothing?
Freezing all of cuba's assetts in amerikan banks was nothing?
Economic embargo was nothing?
Cuban missile crissis with the 2nd marine division poised offshore for invasion was nothing?
Attempting to murder castro numerous times was nothing?

Cuba is an impoverished 3rd world country
Do you have a clue what the term "third world" means?

still and you'll die 10-12 years younger. That it is still there is like saying the moon is still there.

Cubans have a higher life expectancy than the u.s. according to the cia fact book.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_life_expectancy

North Korea is a fascist jail of slaves that can't even afford to feed their own slaves. So they reply upon the fascists cousins in China to bail them out. The N. Koreans in the Korean war did no such thing. The Chinese use of and death of millions of peasants and Harry Truman are the only reasons MacArthur didn't go all of the way to Pyongyang.

Perhaps you should avail yourself of a history book instead of old john wayne movies as your source for the history of that particular lash up. The u.s. army got a lot of exercise running as fast as they could from those peasants.

The European model values economy that serves society at large not almost exclusively investors like the US. Europe is no more of a steep nosedive than the US. If you are referring to the bankers socialism with a $Trillion dollars of more socialism for the rich...they are very much like us.

What this has to do with anything I posted eludes me.

Venezuela is quickly now going to hell. Being objective, Venezuela is sham democracy with the opposition being all but destroyed.

The opposition being the u.s. backed fascists who kidnapped chavez? In the u.s. we execute terrorist (tim mcvey) like that.

Their economy has nothing but oil and for an oil rich nation, they could become the leftist version of the Mexican model of a rightist oligarchy. The only real difference being that Mexico has enjoyed the good fortune of being on our border and the beneficiary of 2 US bailouts.

The u.s. has been the benificiary of the theft of half of that country...or did you not know that?

Sanity is always so satisfyingly wrong on verifiable facts. But then this is the guy who said all-time appeasement king Neville Chamberlain was a liberal. (He was, of course, a Conservative.)

In fact, as shown previously, more doctors have returned to Canada from the US every year since 2004. And they're being joined by American doctors who can't stand interference by insurance companies in their own country.

Anyone can search his history and see that, when corrected on the facts, Sanity just starts calling people monkeys and marxists, and abandons the thread.

Of course it would never cross his mind to explore the "why" of chamberlain's actions, that might require reading a book where the writting is not contained in a ballon eminating from a cartoon drawing.

The true meaning went way over your head, but I'll try to explain on a simpler level for you and for panda. I'm not "calling you" monkeys, I'm pointing out how the antics on display in this thread by the far left posters closely resemble the behavior of poo slinging monkeys. So many of you are incapable of posting reasonably or impassionately, especially when the Holy Grail of your religious belief (we all have a right to demand free government health care) comes under fire, as in the case of my OP.

In this case your "poo" is the way you irrationally drag in something I supposedly wrote in another totally unrelated thread about Neville Chamberlain. So what if I did make that mistake? Years back if I did (because I don't recall it).

And you think you made a point in another thread about physicians moving into Canada that I should have been aware of because you think you're so awesome that everybody follows every word that you type?

I didn't write that it was a fact, like you falsely assert - I wrote that thats what I had heard.

Earth to McBride, come in McBride...

And, in which direction do you believe that Canada will go from here. Towards more socialism and government control over the individual, or away from it.

And why are all of the elitist socialist states of Europe demanding that Greece move away from socialism in order to help save itself and the EU from total disaster.
