What are they?

Sacred, as in something worthy of worship.. for the religious or spiritual, I would say whatever Higher Power they may have as an influence on their lives. There are times that I feel a strong desire to worship at the feet of Himself, but not consistently. Most other things I think I can and will reconsider their value to me based upon a new insight or some other factor so I would not hold those things as sacred.

It really depends on what you mean by sacred. I guess before I can give you my list of what I hold sacred I would need to know your definition of sacred.  However, I am interested in what you hold sacred.

I see we can't even talk about sacred without being ridiculous. That is disappointing. If I'd been looking for stupidity, I would have put this in the P and ORS section.

I see the point is proven.

Thank you.

What point is proven?

I read this as "Some Things Are Scared," and my mind instantly flashed towards me being chased by a pack of clowns and geese. *Shudder*

Anyway, rats are also sacred in some parts of India.

As for what's sacred to me: the people I love.

So a child being abused is something worth joking about? Genocide? You may want to reconsider that statement.

I'm saying that trying to find some consensus as to what is beyond the pale in terms of "sacred" is not worthwhile.

These things are not funny, way too many things are not funny but being funny is usually good unless someone is being wholly insensitive which is another thing. Funny is good.

The birth of a baby is sacred. There is pain and suffering and uncertainty. Then out of the chaos a new life comes into existence.

Its ironic that sacred and scared are anagrams. Especially since so many people really are scared of things that are sacred.

Indeed, we could find a sense of humor sacred.

sunshine, I don't think it's so important just what we hold sacred--but I do it's important THAT we hold some things sacred. It's about us, not the things per se.

I have tried to do away with sacred things...

I want to study other people's sacred stuff and not have sacred things of my own

Nothing is sacred, but laughter is one of the last to get cast away.

If my God was a motherfucking dinosaur I would know I had the wrong guy, the wrong guy dude. The dinosaur god is not God, you know that, and I know that. For a dinosaur it is nice to see the heart thing going on but I aint buying it. You dinosaurs sunk with Atlantis and spent all your down time learning Photoshop. Nice job. Can you do the same image but with Anubis at the top? Have his long tongue hanging out around his sharp teeth? Can ya do that?

If you had any sense at all you would know that we dinosaurs are unable to swim. That is why the Lord gifted me with the ability to walk on water.

Your heresy will not go unpunished. Remain rest assured.

It might help the thread if the OP took more than five seconds to post. Then they might not get so mad when their vague one sentence three word question gets interpreted any which way. As for me, I'm a firm believer in, 'One man's sacred is another man's belly laugh.'
