Zeitgeist: The Movie's second and third parts were persuasive for me. I wouldn't be shocked if I somehow learnt (like if life-after-death existed and we got omniscient there) what was told in the first part or OP's beliefs were true.

American Zeitgeist is a very good 'movie.' (documentary) The best I've seen in a long while.

Global warming. What a fraud.

Not for Al Gore! He's made $hundred$ of million$ from it!

Come on guys you can do better than this. Does anybody really care how Al Gore made his money ? I didn't think so, he's just a handy fall guy upon whom partisans can vent their political vitriol.

The very idea that one can acquire massive wealth though a warning of global warming is an insult to my intelligence.

There's no there...there.

Oswald was not alone.

Most conspiracy theories require the participation of hundreds if not thousands of living people, each with access to the internet, keeping a secret.

Ain't gonna happen.

Oswald was a patsy and had nothing to do with JFK's assassination.

Well, like any good detective, I "always follow the money." RFK and two guys show up in Calif and Marylyn Monroe is dead two days later. No conspiracy there, she got wacked for threatening to expose her affair with JFK.
UFO's are bullshit. If they were that sophisticated that they could manipulate "time" for space travel then they could surely make themselves invisable when they got here to earth!
Ever have that feeling that "someone" was "with" you when you were all alone?

Conspiracy means there was an orchestrated attempt to cover up what really happened. If they offed her and then made it look like suicide, that makes it a conspiracy. If you can't prove it with concrete evidence that makes it a theory. So you DO have a conspiracy theory.

Lets be clear; I said UFO, I said nothing about aliens, space travel or manipulating time. If there is something (an Object)  in the air (Flying) and it does not fit the description of any presently known aircraft (Unidentified), that makes it an (Unidentified Flying Object). Whether its a gov't project, a new kind of weapon or the airlines testing an advanced airplane, its still unidentified to the public.  If people see it and the official govn't response is "no you didn't see it" then they are hiding its existence.

BTW- People put way too much voodoo around the term "conspiracy theory" all it means is that you believe the govn't intentionally lies to the public about certain things. If you think the govn't never lies to us about "what really happened"........well.......I'll be nice and say you must be a damn good citizen

I like this OP and the subject matter but this is not entirely true. A conspiracy to commit as crime...is a crime. A conspiracy that includes a crime IS the crime and any attempted cover-up is an additional crime...obstruction of justice.

All it takes for a conspiracy is a conversation between two or more people...to do something.

I believe that Oswald was a lone gunman and the CIA (or somebody, perhaps even everybody) deliberately made a point of muddying the waters until it looked like he wasn't because they didn't want the idea that any passing nutcase with a rifle can bag a President getting taken seriously.

Other way around. Oswald had nothing to do with JFK's death.

Whyever not? Hinckley was a lone nut and he pretty nearly got Reagan.

Well the evidence then and since doesn't implicate the govt. in lying or any accomplices. However, that doesn't in any way rule out a conspiracy to kill RR.

I forget his name, he has a website and wrote a book about it, but a man hired by the RR campaign in 1976 when running against Gerald Ford for the Repub nomination for pres., was to go to NY to see what RR had to do to get some campaign money.

When this man came back, Reagan asked what he had to do to raise some money. The man told Reagan what he had to do...to stay alive. Before Hinckley Reagan, didn't play ball, after...he did.

The "rat pack" conspiracy theory?

I'm sorta familar with that - Martin & Sinatra had ties to the mob?

Lol. Sorry, no. An academic dean (name omitted) who screwed me out of something.  I thought about conspiracy theories I believe in and realized they pretty much involve people I know, not distant actors.

Nonsense. Man may or may not be contributing all that some will insist but the oceans and the atmosphere are in fact...getting warmer. The evidence is all over the world, much not requiring science.

I ask what would be the incentive for this fraud as you call it ? Why would such a large group of intelligent people in and out of science all around the world go to all of this trouble to perpetrate a fraud upon the rest of us ?

Ask Tipper Gore. (and when someone says that GW is a "conspiracy theory" they generally mean AGW, so your first paragraph is unnecessary)

Now this makes me think that there is a conspiracy... to fog your brain. If you don't think that cap and trade and "carbon offsets" enable the acquisition of enormous wealth then you have been sleeping through the last 5 or 6 years.

Which of course doesnt have a thing to do with the topic at hand. Criminal conspiracies have no relation to "conspiracy theories".

Of course they don't. They're run by people who actually exist, for a start.

This is the legal definition of Conspiracy but not quite accurate for the definition of conspiracy theory. Many conspiracy theories do not involve a crime at all, just a cover up. (UFO's, flouride, lunar walk)

First, there is no cap & trade tax at the federal level yet or anywhere near the scale from which one's individual wealth goes from $2 million to $100 million in ten years. I am not in favor and most people are not in favor of a cap & trade tax the overall effect of which is to enrich some interests while allowing other interests a license to pollute.

Private interests as opposed to any corporate polluting has a very hard time enriching themselves individually unless of course they are privy to insider information which is already illegal while exploited now on any number of trades, not just the cap & trade of carbon.

What ? I quoted the OP's postulation of a conspiracy and countered with actual definition.

Any theory about any conspiracy is virtually always a theory about the conspiracy to commit a crime. Name me or describe for me all of the other conspiracies and their theories...that aren't about some crime.

You are talking about govt. conspiracies to defraud the public. Yes, only a political crime but outside of govt. and even most of those conspiracies in govt....do in fact involve crimes.
