I don't like it, especially when they don't pay their fair share of taxes, everybody knows about Warren Buffett's secretary paying a higher percentage of taxes than he does but I wouldn't say I'm obsessed with it.

Why do I enjoy a great standard of living?

Because you are on borrowed time.

Nope, I get 24 hours in each day just like everyone else.  It's impossible for me to borrow two hours from you so that I have 26 and you and 22 hours.

I enjoy a great standard of living because I enjoy my standard of living.  I am honestly grateful for every opportunity that has knocked on my door but am even more grateful for the gumption (there's an old-timey word lol) to have gone out a dug up opportunity instead of wait for it to come knocking.

I find I am way luckier when I work hard and even luckier when I work smart.  I find that I am happy when I know that money is worthless when compared to a baby's laugh.  I think I realised the great wealth I had on the day I came home to a busted out window and all but my children's things and my heaviest furniture...gone.  It was further emphasised on the evening I was raped.

I don't give a fart in a hurricane about people who float on palacial ships.  Good for them.  They didn't rob me, they didn't rape me and no one, no one could ever take my wealth from me.

I enjoy a great standard of living.  I am the richest woman on the planet.

Bloody Marvellous :) I wish you a lifetime of enjoyment Eyes
Sincerely I do

the highest-earning 1% of taxpayers in America make 22.06% of all income reported to the government. That's almost twice the 12.51% of total income earned collectively by the lowest-earning 50% of workers. Yes, 1.4 million taxpayers claim 22% of income earned while 68 million share just 12.5%.

What, precisely, would you say is a fair share?

I don't read fiction. I don't like to waste my time with fantasy. There is far too much scientific information to read and understand so I don't think I have time for it.

I have noticed that the ones who pull that one out, usually do it after someone else has started whining about how the rich get all the breaks and poor little me is still broke. But yes both sides can be annoying.

You forgot to mention all the time posting links on how evil the GOP is, how ignorant religious people are and how terribly unfair it is that other people have buttloads of money and you don't. It's a wonder you have time to sleep.

I think it's just luck, being in the right place at the right time. Bill Gates is a very good example because he was the first person to get a computer to play with because of his rich parents, so he had a head start on everybody else. I don't think he's intellectually superior to anyone even though he might think he's better than everybody else.

The reality is that, many of those wealthy people, if you removed their wealth, they would be able to regain it. Most of the people that are not wealthy, if you gave them wealth, they would lose it.

I agree.

Easy to agree but there is little evidence that is the case. However, it is very easy to think and...say so.

I prefer this chart. Its accurate and inclusive of exactly what is going on.

He was the first person to get a computer? Any links to back that up?

Never heard of that before and the link doesn't work. I found this site but it says it's closed http://blueeyedtex.com/

When Warren Buffett pays a higher tax rate than his secretary I might be satisfied.

This information proves the rich are not paying their fair share of taxes and need to pay more. The information is in keeping with Warren Buffetts' secretary paying a higher income tax rate than he does.

When people like Warren Buffett have the same or higher income tax rate than his secretary I think that would be appropriate.

I wonder where Sanity is? He's another person I think is completely loaded.
