ladychatterley -> Insomnia... (4/11/2006 5:15:22 AM)

I'm a newbie without a partner, trying to get where I need to so that if/when he finds me, I'll be ready.
Anyway, I have always used masturbation as an over-the-counter Ambien.  I've become aware that this won't do, but after a week of restless nights and attempts at guided visualization as a substitute, I'm not sure what to do instead.  I really, really don't want to do drugs to deal with this problem. Does anyone have any suggestions here?

I'm sorry I don't have any quick fix answers for you. Master suffers badly with insomnia and the only thing that helps even a little bit is smoking pot. He tried sleeping tablets but they just zonked Him out too much the next day. Often He is awake until the crack of dawn and then He gets sleepy![8|] Even a bj doesn't work[&o] He will doze off for a little while and be wide awake again.

We have found that the only thing we can do is let Him sleep when He is sleepy, even if that means naps during the day, because He gets so tired He cannot function. He is disabled with renal failure so He does not work and I am able to keep a check on Him then (He is diabetic and needs to eat regularly). If He can't sleep at night I go to bed and He stays up watching TV or on the net. If He lies in bed awake He just gets so frustrated it makes things worse.

ever since I was on third shift in the service I have trouble sleeping at night ... so I sleep when I am tired and stopped worrying about it ...I am sleeping pretty normal now .. and on off nights specially when nose from allergys is stuffy I take one benedryl ... it knocks me just enough out and clears My nose ...I have used benedryl now and again to help Me sleep .. off and on its a inexpensive way to get drowsy...

Why aren't you masturbating?  What makes you think that this will somehow prepare you for being a submissive?

Tikkiee -> RE: Insomnia... (4/11/2006 6:07:28 AM)

I have to agree with LuckyAlbatross, why stop using masturbation if it works?

LuckyAlbatross -> RE: Insomnia... (4/11/2006 6:11:05 AM)

BTW thank you for your picture Tikkiee, let's just say it gives me very good thoughts.

Tikkiee -> RE: Insomnia... (4/11/2006 6:15:19 AM)

Thank you. I think? LOl

MontaukDaisies -> RE: Insomnia... (4/11/2006 6:27:22 AM)

I read until I'm sleepy.. I drink warm milk.. I use yoga/deep breathing.

I think I sleep better when I'm exercising regularly, too.

littleone35 -> RE: Insomnia... (4/11/2006 7:03:21 AM)

I find if i am having trouble sleeping if i take a warm(not hot) bath about 2 hours before bedtime it relaxes me and helps me get to sleep.

o, insomnia, my old friend. i used to take ambien, i hate OTC drugs though [or pahrmies of any kind for that matter], and try to steer clear. i find when i dont smoke pot/or have sex, i have trouble sleeping. things i have found to help:

NOT masturbation [for me- gets me too amped up]
aromatherapy works wonders, a shower with lavender soap, or pillow spray. chamomile tea, HEAVY REGULAR EXERCISE is the BEST thing to drain you. meditation [i try to picture a black pool of h20, with ripples, like you dropped a pebble in it, and on the crest of each ripple, a white line. i try to follow ea ripple out to the edge of my vision]
my D will stare at the wall, eyes forced open, and count, endlessly, till he passes out.

Someone is sort of mentoring me; he said I should stop--I need to be prepared to have someone control when I have orgasms and have the control to give that over to someone else.  It is a pretty regular thing for me, so ...

I think your mentor needs a newsflash:

Some doms don't care about subs orgasms
Some doms enjoy their subs having lots of orgasms
Some doms enjoy knowing their sub can orgasm and get good nights sleep

If you choose to get involved with a dominant who will not only control your orgasms, but also DENY them, then THEY can be the ones to help find a new and non-drug way to deal with the unfortunate consequences.  That's what training was invented for.

Until then, do what works best for you.  Denying yourself something that is not only very pleasurable, very healthy, but ALSO a great routine that helps you get good rest just because some possible future hypothetical dom MIGHT want to cnotrol your orgasms is ridiculous.

Oh like tonight!  I have not slept all nite.  Did my walk yesterday and still no luck.  I can't take sleeping pills for personal reasons but I have learned to just deal with the insomnia...drag the next day...crash at 6pm to the next morning.  Maybe it's age, pre-m, or a lot on my mind.  All I know is I just stopped worrying about and struggle through it.  I do try to maintain a healthy diet and I do walk for long periods daily or at least every other day.  Most of time it works, sometimes not.  Good Luck!

ownedgirlie -> RE: Insomnia... (4/12/2006 2:12:58 AM)

L-triptophan capsules will aid in sleep without that druggy feeling the next morning.  Check with your local health food store.

For some, valerian root is a good natural sleep aid, also found in  your local health food store.  It did not work for me, but others swear by it.

Sometimes for me a glass of wine helps.

MHOO314 -> RE: Insomnia... (4/12/2006 4:07:23 AM)

You can also get L-Tryptophan from a nice warm turkey sandwhich--

I don't know if you have it down in the States, but Jamieson has an herbal product that works quite well when I cannot get to sleep. It's called "Relax and Sleep" and contains valerian .. catnip too =)

Three tablets plus some nice warm milk ... and usually within a half hour zzzz zzzzzzzzz

Pleasant dreams,

darkcravings -> RE: Insomnia... (4/12/2006 4:59:00 AM)

Have you tried meditation and yoga?  A nice warm bath before it filled with lavish scented bubbles and meditation has always worked for me.

I suggest abusing prescription medication.  It has it's down side, what with the cost and side effects and dependance and difficulty obtaining in vat size quantities.  But at least you won't be masturbating.

*grins* but the capsules are less fattening and you get more of it that way.
