Hi all, I'm wondering: do some of you use the "favourite users" button and in what purpose? I'm using it just to remember the profile I like and that I intend to contact one day, and also in the hope that the "admired" one (what a heavy word!) send me a little note... what never happened. No bitterness in this post (I've learned since a long time that I don't have to expect anything from this kind of stuff) but just curiosity.

I use it to keep track of people I know both in r/t and online - I like to read their journal if they have one, and it's easy to send them a message if you click on their name.

If I read a profile I like, or have become friendly here on line with them in CM. I use favorite button. Makes being able to find them and send them a note a little easier. When I see another name on my admirers list, I go and check out the profile and see who finds something they like about me as well. I had one gent.... that e-mailed me... demmanding to know why I had not contacted him after he added me to his favorites list. It was his way to summons me. I'm still laughing over that. He's since then deleted his account after I sent him back a very laughable, verbal flamming. Its a chance we take when sending messages and catching someone in certain moods. And what's said in messages. But the favorites and admirers list I pay little attention to. Unless I'm looking to send a message to someone on here i've already been conversing with.

I have a very few people on my favorites. But my favorites is howI met my Dom. I thought he was extremely good looking ( i know not a good reason to add someone to my favorites but whew he was hot lol) anyway after a few days he sent me an email asking if I planned on introducing myself since I had added him to my favorites a few days prior. I responded with I haddnt planned on it but since he asked so nicely I would, lol needless to say 2 months later things are going very well. So on my end that favorites button was my way of finding what I didnt even know I was looking for!

I occasionally get "admirers" listing me, and sometimes nice emails also. I have an admirer now - who knew! I recently lost another one...hmmm... BTW, being listed as admired by someone isn't necessarily a good thing, read on... I use the "favorite users" list to keep track of some of my favorite commentators on the message boards. I also use it to bookmark people's profiles which could be for both good and bad reasons. Sometimes I think a profile is really nice and I want to share it later on with others; other times I intend to ridicule the person privately with some of my friends. Lately I am keeping track of the "dead dom syndrome." I also find what people say about their dead dom interesting.

I'll use it if I run across a profile that I find appealing or if someone has some things in their journal I really like and want to keep up with (Hi Fergus!!) it's a small list though and forget it's there sometimes. I do however find myself a favorite of quite a few others most of whom never contact me. shrug

I don't pay much attention to the "admirers" list - for whatever reason, those are very rarely the people that contact me directly through email. I also don't find them showing up on my admirer's list as a catalyst to get me to email them.

Well, analysing your answers, I suppose that males add more often someone on their "favourite" list than females, which is actually the opposite of what I thought.

I'm always very flattered when I saw up on someone's list... I try to send them a note when I see that. But honestly I need face-to-face interactions before I'd feel I knew someone enough to say "this is my favorite". I do however keep emails from folks I like chatting with and I try to make comments in the threads when someone impresses me in some way -- positive and negative both I think.

I am always thrilled beyond words when someone appears on my admirer's list (what a high compliment). TO me, it means that they think enough of you out of the sea of people to want to check back with you later. Not that it must be something romantic, or sexual perticularly, just that they were thinking of you in SOME capacity! I add people to my favorites for much the above reason, because I admire something about them (often something I have discovered though posting or corresdondance). fergus

This girl had a different CM name awhile ago and had added Sir Rob to her favorite list, but had NO clue that others could see it! Was so SHOCKED when got a message from Him, just saying hi. This girl was very embarrassed, like she got caught doing something naughty, or caught looking at the cute guy [:)] Anway, this girl wrote back to Him asking how He knew, etc., etc. We struck up a conversation, then a friendship and on our way to more, this girl hopes! Today this girl is EXTREMELY happy she made this innocent mistake. could not imagine life without Him in it. Now if this girl could just get the hang of these boards...

I rarely use the favorites list and if I do it's generally to keep track of a profile I've responded to... I've found Myself on a few peoples favorites list some of which I think "For what in Gods name am I doing here"??? Right now I'm in a slaves favorites list she's local & might be a match so I responded back to her but she's not been on in 9 days so who knows

I had about ten people on my favorites list, but then some woman in my area (who was on my favorites list) threw a hissy fit in her profile a few days ago about how subs are "stalking" her by having her in their favorites. I thought about it for a short bit and then decided to remove everyone from my favorites list.

I had to laugh at some of the uses. I can honestly say I have only used the favourite users feature once or twice to keep an eye on someone that contacted me but I had an odd feeling about. However, I am always flattered to see someone new on my admirers list. It means I am not a total dolt, or at least doing a better job of hiding it these days.....laughing........Also just for future reference, I promise I am not planning on dying for AT LEAST another 50 years or more.....

I would typically put a favorite on any profile I wanted to have a closer look at later. Reading this thread made me rethink a bit and I've culled the list down to a profile with some info on a group 1 1/2 hours away and a lady who knows damn well I'm stalking her and likes it.
