I never said you didn't. You DID serve our country. Every American who works hard everyday, follows our laws, takes care of his family, raises his children properly and holds the values that are the essence of the this great land of ours in his heart has served his country..........(can you hear the Battle Hymn of The Republic playing here?)

But if you did not serve in the Armed Forces you are NOT a military veteran. That is all I'm saying.

I had heard that that was bush's proposal and was pushed down because enlistments were down and no one wanted to rock the boat. If obama is up to the same thing then he is in the same catagory as his predesesor.


  He has already done away with the "Reinlistment" bonuses.

Was that the president or was it the bean counters, who can change the pay scale as an administrative action with out the presidents input?



What a jerk....he's never been even close to being in the service. Perhaps we need to insist that he go through SEAL training?

What possible purpose would that serve?
Which president with an extensive military background was effective or even adequate?

Hang on: that whole "right to bear arms" thing in the bill of rights is there because your country didn't have a standing army when the bill of rights was drafted.



The constitution in article 1 section gives the congress the power to create and army and a navy

Got some proof that reenlistment bonuses have been ended?

Pull the other one, it's got bells on. Marines were pretty well established as a necessary part of a naval force by the seventeenth century.
If the constitution allows for a navy, then it allows for Marines as well.


I believe I have mentioned that the marines are not and never have been part of the navy in my country.

Thank God for don't ask don't tell....If your nephew is anything like you I am fairly confident he is a tad bit light in the loafers.


My grandfather used to say that..."light in the loafers." I hope no queers were harmed in the making of this post.


Thank me for I have never and will never serve. I am what makes this Country great. Your very freedoms rest squarely upon the backs of men like myself that found something better to do with their time.

LOL You are wrong for that. One of my friends in the Navy told me the Marines were to the military what canaries are to coal miners. Send them in first, if they drop dead nobody else goes in.

The marines quit babysitting squids in 98.
When marines go on ships it is as passengers.

How often has that happened?
Typically what happens is they send the marines in, every one else drops dead and then the coal miners,gold miners, oil miners, non-obtanium miners and all of the other white shoe asshats go in.

Well, fortunately for our country our Marines are some highly trained hard core motherfuckers who will put a boot your ass if you try them. So we haven't had to test that theory too much.

Not for our country but for the business interests in our country...lets try to keep those two etities seperate.
The marines have done little for our country and much for the business interest in our country.
If you doubt that then I would sugest for your amazement and perusal the writings of one Smedly Butler usmc moh, specifically "war is a racket".
