Status: offline 		While Obama lauds the Arafat loving douchebag Desmond Tutu, he completely ignores the 66th anniversary of D-Day.
He couldn't even be bothered to comment on the historical event, instead he's giving this terrorist lover a fucking medal.

This is sad indeed.

Or Bush's failure to commemorate in 2002, 2003, 2005, 2006. 2007 or 2008? Was that a condemnation of America's military achievements
All the Ford Center Events also were well attended by past Presidents

At least Bush honored D day- which broke us off the Nazis- of the great war - which the central bank funded all sides of.

I wonder if all of the dead and disabled vets that fought "The war on terror" in Iraq felt like they got fucked by Bush?

Status: offline 		Great news! Desmond Tutu being given a medal. He deserves it, though with my slight acquaintance with the man he's not likely to have particularly desired it. I tend to think that for Tutu its the opinion of God that matters most as to the life he has led and the work he has done and continues to do in the name of that God. A good man who, it must be said if he had a good opinion of Arafat, must give us pause to reconsider Arafat rather than Tutu.

Let's see.

Just starting with WWII we have V-E Day, V-J Day, Pearl Harbor, the Battle of the Bulge, Iwo Jima, the Battan Death March, Guadalcanal, the Doolittle Raiders and many more.

Are we going to require him to observe them all?  And what of the other many other wars and many other veterans of specific campaigns.

He's going to be one busy guy.

Maybe he should appoint you as commemoration czar.

Desmond Tutu is quite a terrorist: he was awarded The Nobel Peace Prize, The Albert Schweitzer Prize for Humanitarianism, The Pacem in Terris Award, The Sydney Peace Prize, The Ghandi Peace Prize and The J. William Fullbright Award for International Understanding among many, many others.

Your opinion has been made quite clear and mine is that if you are going to base it only on that then you must be living in a very tiny room. That is a pity; it is such a big world out there.

This visit, on the occasion of the 65th anniversary of the D-Day landing, is full of symbolism for both France and the United States. Is it not ironic (if not hypocritical) that Barack Obama, who has demonstrated a significant ‘cut and run’ military philosophy in Iraq, not to mention the Global War on Terror, is the President who will remember with ‘great gratitude’ all those young Americans who stormed the bloody beaches of Normandy to help France and the world free itself from Nazi oppression?

You might remember that candidate Obama was always quick to invoke the names of the great Democratic Presidents like Roosevelt, Truman and Kennedy, but in reality, perhaps its finally time for Obama to open a history book and learn why these men were such great leaders. His immature and ever-morphing positions on Iraq, Afghanistan, Gitmo, Terrorism, Israel, despotic Dictators, etc continues to show someone who is woefully and quite pathetically practicing ‘on-the-job’ training. Frankly, the world continues to be a very dangerous place and to have a president with such weak intestinal fortitude in addition to socialistic tendancies is more then disconcerting.

In all our years as a nation, we have always embraced the fight for freedom, usually spilling blood and treasure for others in the process. The story of D-Day and the Normandy Invasion is special to us. We hold those who rest there dear; sacred. It is very clear that Barack Obama is no liberator. In fact, he projects extreme weakness in the face of profound danger. When Obama gives his ‘65th Anniversary of D-Day’ Normandy Speech, I want him to look out across the channel where all our young men crossed, and then look at all of those graves at the American Cemetery and forever recognize the high cost of freedom and the amazing benefits of democracy.

No, what I'm pointing out is the ridiculousness of expecting a President to preside over the commemoration of every significant battle in what seems to be our endless series of wars.

And "my guy" does not have us in those, you might recall they were started by a New England cowboy.
