Elton probably was asked not to do a compilation of ALL of his songs, because then the songs might outlast the marriage...

Oh and I think it's great that Elton got the gig. I always liked his music and then there is the added bonus of poking the haters with a stick.

Either that, or he has gotten to the point that he just doesn't give a fuck what other people think anymore. He has always struck me as the type of person who will do what he feels is right and not necessarily what the masses scream at him to do.
