It's subsidized housing, Steve. Maybe it comes in a little check from the tenant, and a bigger check from the administering authority, but the landlord is still getting full price.

Ah, what is "affordable"?  You are defining it in terms of the total amount of rent a landlord receives.  A liberal would be concerned with how much the tenant pays.  After all, Section 8's sole purpose is to reduce the amount that tenants pay.

On average, people on the left fail Economics 101 when polled using the scientific method:

ROTFLMAO

Who put the economy into the worse recession since the great depression, causing the worst financial disaster since the great depression?

It wasn`t the left.

Who put billions spent off ledger, to hide the enormity of it?

It wasn`t the left. The left,Obama, got rid of your two-sets-of-books accounting methods.

It`s certain that the "right" ,missed integrity 101 as well as economics 101

[sm=rofl.gif]

Fuck your test.lol You rightist are economic falures and we all have the proof.lol.

You have been weighed and measured,... and you are found to be lacking......

Not that the left has been any better at it.

I think it would be fair to say that political objectives - from either side - overcome rational economic policies.

section 8:

often the amount of rent- will not cover the market rate.

increase in taxes- comes to mind.  Jenny is on sect 8.  they allow- x amount a month.   This rate is min $50 less then the landlord could get other wise.   In the local area- it is hard to crunch those numbers.

Owner59 -> RE: Who Is Smarter Than a Fifth Grader (6/10/2010 6:35:29 AM)

Yeah the rightists talk a good game but it`s lip service.

Let`s simplify it.

Who would you rather trust or invest your money with...?

An accountant who looses you money or the accountant who protects and earns you money?

It`s not a trick question.......rightists......[:D]

Why is a Dec. 2008 poll news today?

Because when Sanity was a fifth-grader he never mastered the intricacies of reading a calendar.

Sanity -> RE: Who Is Smarter Than a Fifth Grader (6/10/2010 6:41:50 AM)

You want to talk about bad investment advice? Try this one - what is the actual rate of return on the retirement money we're forced to give to the government to invest for us in Social Security?

You might want to do a bit more reading about the goals of the Section 8 program, Steve. The idea is to more widely disperse the long-term poor among the middle class population. In theory, the kids will embrace the values of middle America they see from the new neighbors, and grow up to be productive citizens. In reality, crime, the gangs, and drugs, follow them into the neighborhoods.

It's the sort of experiment liberals love, as long as nobody is moving in next door to them.

pahunkboy -> RE: Who Is Smarter Than a Fifth Grader (6/10/2010 6:56:39 AM)

Actually section 8 is well run locally.

Yeah, tell that to the folks who lost their retirements and have to work again!!!!!!

Thank God they have Social Security.[:D]

Just imagine folks,if the cons were able to "privatize" Social Security before the crash.

All that money, those billions would be toilet flushed too!! Gone!! What money?!! lol

And then where would they be? Who would provide for them after their SS was also vanished?

You?

[sm=rofl.gif]

Social Security is not an investment. It`s not money for speculators to gamble with.

It`s an insurance policy the the government makes everyone buy, that will pay in the event of a catastrophic illness accident or injury that leaves one unable to earn money and to folks over 65 to supplement their incomes and keep them out of poverty.

It`s risk is spread over the largest number of people, all Americans.

Thank God we stopped you.Thank God the seniors really clamored and screamed when the bushies tried to pull off this gigantic heist.

People don`t want their retirements tied to the stock market`s whims.

Clearly you are not as smart as a fith grader when you try to pass off this pap as reality.
Why do you feel that welfare for the rich is good and welfare for the poor is bad. If you had even been in the same room with an econ book you would know how flawed this poll is.
Clearly your ability to snark exceeds your ability to read, reason or think.

I don't believe he was talking to me, but let's not let facts get in the way, otherwise you would never have anything to post.

Sanity -> RE: Who Is Smarter Than a Fifth Grader (6/10/2010 7:11:57 AM)

Not only is Social Security a failing ponzi scheme but its losing investor monies on account of inflation.

Almost anything would be a better investment.

I paid in less than $5000 into the ss system and have been getting a check for about $500 a month for about a year. Seems like a pretty good return on that investment.

Owner59 -> RE: Who Is Smarter Than a Fifth Grader (6/10/2010 7:13:07 AM)

"scientific method"

ouuhhh ,..he`s get`n all sciency on us.....
