The left�s strange hostility to Hirsi Ali quote: Ayaan Hirsi Ali’s great cause is women’s liberation. Unfortunately for her, the women she wants to liberate are Muslim, so she gets minimal support and indeed a ton of hostility from Western feminists who have reconciled themselves, consciously or otherwise, to the two-tier sisterhood: when it comes to clitoridectomies, forced marriages, honour killings, etc., multiculturalism trumps feminism. Liberal men are, if anything, even more opposed. She long ago got used to the hectoring TV interviewer, from Avi Lewis on the CBC a while back to Tavis Smiley on PBS just the other day, insisting that say what you like about Islam but everyone knows that Christians are just as backward and violent, if not more so. The media left spends endless hours and most of its interminable awards ceremonies congratulating itself on its courage, on “speaking truth to power,” the bravery of dissent and all the rest, but faced with a pro-gay secular black feminist who actually lives it they frost up in nothing flat. Ok. Maybe they don't hate her quite as much as Sarah Palin, but the message sure isn't very popular.

Odd- I read the linked article, looking for examples of the "hostility" f leftists towards Ms. Ali. (Being a card carrying far left howler, I wanted to be up with the latest communique from HQ) But oddly enough, the only one expressing opposition to Ms, Ali was Mark Steyn himself, arguing that she is wrong about her embrace of secular liberalism. I may have to write George Soros or even go up the tree to The Exalted Ruler Himself, Saul Alinsky, to find out what the proper leftist attitude towards Ms. Ali should be. Until then, she sounds pretty right on to me.

Steyn's neo-conservative bias is worthy of mention in your post in all fairness, don't you think, Rich? So, what are these two advocating but nothing less than a war against all of Islam? Any suggestions on what the strategy might be? Perhaps a new Crusade and Inquisition for those who do not convert. Well gee, we haven't played those fun games in quite awhile. Madness.
