The point is they have very little in their own party (GOP) to discuss, because though they bitch and whine they have not put any good ideas on the table for anything.  The party of "NO", their quote not mine.  So they are back to the religion BS and soon to follow more birther crap.  Same BS different day

I think it shows how little they have when the complain about him being a muslim and complain about the christian church he attended.  So there is just no making them happy, cause all they know how to do is find problems in their own minds and offer no solutions to solve anything going on at the moment (beyond tax cuts to the wealthy)

It gets really really old

Like I said during the election, if Obama won it would be a replay of the Clinton years.

And here we are.

I really don't mind him being attacked on policy issues, I would even agree in some instances, but it seems the GOP has evolved into Sarah Palin's pit bulls.

It started with Clinton and has grown.

If the attacks on issues don't work then attack the man's character.  If that doesn't work then just make something up.

I'm not sayin' Obama is a Muslim.
But the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Arab Republic of Egypt, Ahmed Abdul Gheit, is sayin' Obama says he's a Muslim.
I'm just sayin'.
Sure am glad I'm upwind from that steaming pile of elephant shit Geller crapped.

Zeigfried -> RE: His Muslim faith (8/23/2010 3:02:08 AM)

Obama goes to church with the family regularly and belonged to a church in Chicago for many years (remember the brou-haha over his former minister's remarks?) and people still call him a Muslim? Can you say wacko-fringe? Its right up there with the birthers who refuse to accept that the Governor and Secretary of State of Hawaii unearthed the actual birth certificate. Ultimately it comes down to immaturity, which the GOP has plenty of.

Were you trying to spell Siegfried, by any chance?

vincentML -> RE: His Muslim faith (8/23/2010 4:43:26 AM)

When Americans get stressed they start acting weird and hysterical.

Father Abraham was called a Catholic and a papist in 1860, a time of virulent antiCatholicism when books were written about nasty things going on in Convents (reminiscent of The Protocols of the Elders of Zion) It was a time of Protestant xenophobia against the Irish immigrants.

In 1940 FDR was labeled a Jew following a long period of KKK led antisemitism. Leo Frank had been lynched in 1915 by the good citizens of Marieta, Ga http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leo_Frank "Dogs and Jews not allowed." from the movie "Liberty Heights"

And now in a time of financial stress and war, Americans are casting the long time Christian Barack Obama as a Muslim. And mostly by crappy innuendo like the OP. "I'm not saying...." If you're not sayin then dont, if you are sayin then man up and own it.

Sad that so many were killed by jihadists on 9/11 here and 7/7 in the UK. Tragic that we lost even more young men and women in needless and misbegotten wars in iraq/afghanistan.

Just a little correction:

No, he does not attend church regularly. He rarely attends at all. < Link below >
That doesn't mean he is a Muslim, and frankly, I don't care if he is or isn't.

For someone who attends Church regularly it sure did seem like he'd never actually listened to a sermon by his former minister. I'm still trying to figure out how that happened.

TheHeretic -> RE: His Muslim faith (8/23/2010 6:58:59 AM)

Nope. President Obama is a Christian, and he prays every day. His spokeshole at the White House said so.

Jesus Christ, people! There are so many good, solid reasons to oppose the practices and policies of this President, these nonsensical allegations about his religion and birthplace are just dumb and counterproductive.

Aneirin -> RE: His Muslim faith (8/23/2010 3:03:59 PM)

I wonder if a person can follow many religions at the same time, sort of a bit like a pan theist, but leaving out the nature bit, or leaving it in even. In the god squad religions, a person being a Jew, a Muslim and a Christian all at the same time in which case I wonder if say Obama was such a person and had many faiths, and those becoming a universal belief in God in his many forms what would the common thought be then ?

Not if any of those religions are monotheistic religions. By defintion, no.

Aneirin -> RE: His Muslim faith (8/23/2010 3:31:42 PM)

Perhaps it would be a big step forward for the world's people if these warring religions did in fact merge, as these monotheistic religions have been a pain in the ass to the rest of the world for at least the last 2k years

If you believe.... merger isn't possible.
People without religious belief often fail to grasp the strength of such belief.
People who fly planes into buildings are not interested in merging.
Neither am I.

From the "site" you posted....

The loon-tune is now crying b/c normal folks like Paypale dumped their bigotted asses.

"Paypal Cuts Off Atlas: Truth is the New Hate Speech"

The little money that Atlas generates (I have no large donors) is about to be cut off. Apparently the jihad is hard at work trying to kill free speech (and the bus ads and the 911 no mosque movement), preventing the truth from making its way to those in pursuit of it. Paypal contributions help pay for bus ads, rallies, live coverage (everything), and I so much as said so when asked repeatedly by the press who paid for the bus ads. Readers do and did.

Paypal is calling Atlas a "hate" site and will close my account if I do not remove the paypal option from my website. Accurate reporting and news is hate.

Truth is the new hate speech:

Please email or call paypal and let them know Atlas Shrugs is a news site and political blog. I am not responsible for the bad news in the world. I just report.

Great, another lawsuit. Want to make a contribution to my fight?

Mail a check to Pamela Geller, PO Box 121, 1040 1st Avenue, NY NY 10022. Until I beat those pathetic Paypal pussies. Unbelievable.

~~~~~~~~~~
That`s the way to get paypal back onboard.
Would these statements from the Egyptian foreign minister meet the legal definition of "hearsay"? I am hoping one of the legal scholars here can answer that easily.
Holy BlackBerry! Obama Finds Ways to Keep the Faith During First Year in Office
Has the First Family's D.C. Church Search Come to a Close?
By DEVIN DWYER
Jan. 29, 2010
The President told ABC News in July that he prays every night before going to bed.
"I pray all the time now," Obama said. "I've got a lot of stuff on my plate and I need guidance all the time."
Aides say some of that guidance comes from the president's faith advisory council of 25 religious and non-profit leaders who help the administration partner with faith-based and community groups in providing social services.
Rev. Wallis, a member of the council, says the council is another means for the president to hear messages otherwise preached from the pulpit. "I think he certainly listens to people of faith when we speak about things we are about," he said.
bama and all former U.S. presidents professed faith in Christianity, with most men identifying as Episcopalians, according to the Pew Forum on Religion and Public Life. Obama is the first U.S. president who affiliates with the Christian Protestant denomination, the United Church of Christ.
Speaking on the eve of Martin Luther King Jr. Day earlier this month, Obama told a packed Vermont Avenue Baptist church in Washington, D.C., that faith keeps him grounded.
"I have a confession to make," he said. "There are times when I am not so calm. There are times when progress seems too slow. There are times when the words spoken about me hurt. There are times when the barbs sting. There are times when it feels like all these efforts are for not, that change is so painfully slow in coming and I have to confront my own doubt. During those times it is faith that keeps me calm."
ABC News' Sunlen Miller, Yunji de Nies and Russell Goldman contributed to this report.
