Think for yourself..it's just a nail..geez

I think for myself just fine, thank you, but this is not an area where I have much knowledge or experience. No one can know everything.  Carpentry is not a skill I happen to have.

Can you paint a landscape?

But that's actually my point. It's just a nail. It should be a simple thing, but it's turning out not to be.

Life's little ironies.

Actually I'm a commercial artists which happens to own his own sign shop..(Don't you just love the fluffy self lifting talk?. It makes us feel all good about ourselves) and yes I can paint "a little" but we aren't talking about something so skilled as painting a landscape now are we...again it's just a nail. If ya can't figure out how to use a hammer on your own..best take the pointy end of the nail and see how far you can push it into your eye before the pain makes you stop.

Yes there is definitely irony in what you've said and I just love it.

Rent a nail gun and compressor at Home Depot?

Electric screwdriver?

Drill?

Perhaps the nail is too big?

What kind of hammer are you using?

Re: the wood spliting. . . Do you know what wood putty is?  You might try some.  The cart/table may also need to be sanded and some sort of oil put on it to help with it being so dry.

It might also help to practice hammering nails into wood to get a feel for it.  Not everyone grows up doing these kinds of things out in the shop with dad.  So kudos to you for trying.
