I am not sure about Tx, but in Pa the named beneficiary on an account or in a will is moot. The surviving spouse gets all funds that were in the name of the deceased.

That's only for spouses, though. Dower rights are just... odd! Yanno, I hate law, legal work bores the living hooey out of me, but I wish I could just take the classes on WRITING trusts...
