Not really, they did a safety inspection of the vessel, something that is required by law.  The last thing you want is to have to rescue those who are sent in to help.  The owners of the vessel know this, it's the law and now the thing is in use.

Perhaps if BP had followed the safety concerns voiced in their own emails this spill would never have happened.

Sometimes laws can be bent in legitimate emergency situations. This counts as one as far as I'm considered.

If you've got something that needs to be done for the safety of the environment and ALL of it's creatures then fuck a fire extinguisher and any dumb motherfucker that thinks I should wait on one to help.

Perhaps but you can't cry wolf when it is BP who is doing the lying and they checked the safety for the reason listed, people working on those vessels are getting sick so, they need to have what they are suppose to have to treat people

Although Louisiana state records indicate that at least 74 oil spill workers have complained of becoming sick after exposure to pollutants, BP’s own official recordkeeping notes just two such incidents. BP reported a wide range of worker injuries in the period from April 22 to June 10 , from the minor — a sprained ankle, a pinched finger and a cat bite — to the more serious — three instances of workers being struck by lightning and one worker who lost part of a finger. The gap between the state data and BP’s… raises questions about whether the federal government can rely on BP to determine whether conditions remain safe for the more than 27,000 workers now engaged in cleaning up the worst oil spill in the nation’s history.
As other workers have reported flu-like symptoms caused by Toxicant-Induced Loss of Tolerance, which causes patients to “lose tolerance to household products, medication, or even food after being exposed to chemicals like burning oil, toxic fumes, or dispersants from the spill.” In fact, BP accounts for “97 percent of ‘egregious willful’ violations given by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration.

So blame it on Obama if you must, but the safety of those people on the vessels should also be a concern to BP and Piyush Jindel, and since BP could care less about the people actually doing the clean-up the Coast Guard has to
Of course Piyush Jindal could be concerned for reasons that have nothing to do with health and safety of the workers  Seems he sees his star on the raise.  Gee using a disaster for political gain, no one in the GOP has ever done that before

By the way, was it not Piyush Jindal who was on the beaches  after the spill saying come on down, it's not that bad???  Huh, there is no oil here

Pardon the CG for doing their job

Look I'm not going to argue for the sake of it..It's a pretty dumb position in my view to stop the progress of the cleanup over a life jacket and a fucking fire extinguisher. If you can't see that then your mind is clouded by your hate for whatever other political side that stands opposed to you.

I could care less about GOP BP or ABC..get your shit together and get the job done and stop bickering.

So the safety of the people doing the clean-up is not something that should be addressed???  Seems like no matter what happens, as long as a DEM is in charge you will find fault with it

Well, it is a pretty dumb position to say safety measures do not have to be followed, when in fact if they where followed this may have never had occurred, that is by BP's own emails

It looks like to me Piyush Jindal is grandstanding because he has his eye on the WH, and if you do not think politics is playing a role in his speeches, then you need to take off your rose colored glasses

They where delayed a day, they are working on the clean-up now, but he is still bitching about them not working.

Yes they do Pahunk, to drill a relief well.

But this problem should have been thought of and planned for long ago.

If he is as useless as Jindal that is a very good question.
