Anyone a fan of the James Patterson novels, featuring Alex Cross? I've just started reading them, so far, pretty good.

kallisto -> RE: Alex Cross (6/20/2010 6:03:44 PM)

I am [:)]

But I'm more of a Lucas Davenport fan in John Sandford's "Prey" novels.   (not meant to hijack)

Level -> RE: Alex Cross (6/20/2010 6:12:54 PM)

Not a hijack at all!

I agree with you, I'm a huge Davenport fan; I even like the other stuff Sandford writes, about Virgil Flowers, and the art thief/computer guy? Love'em.

Big fan of Lee Child, Robert B. Parker, TJ Parker, and James Lee Burke, too.

That's so cool ..another Davenport fan  [:)]   I'm reading his 20th novel in the "Prey" series ... Storm Prey.   Although I'm having trouble getting into the Virgil Flowers books.

Flowers (or, as Lucas refers to him, "that fucking Flowers"), has grown on me [:D]. Still haven't read the new one yet, though; normally, I'll buy them the day they come out, but I'm trying to catch it at the library.

That's enough of push for me to try and read them again.   [:)]

I've got all the "Prey" books in hardback.   Can't help myself.[;)]

eta:   I'm more than happy to share.   [:)]

Sharing is caring, kallisto [;)]

A good book IS addictive, isn't it? I'm putting off reading Parker's last couple of books, knowing there won't ever be another, makes me sad. That's one reason I gave Patterson a shot, to find something to fill the void.

kallisto -> RE: Alex Cross (6/20/2010 7:01:14 PM)

Extremely addictive.   [:)]   I'll take a peek at those others you listed, Level.  I love getting a hold of another great book.    [:)]

Level -> RE: Alex Cross (6/20/2010 7:07:37 PM)

I'd give Burke's Robicheaux novels a shot first, he writes beautifully.

kallisto -> RE: Alex Cross (6/20/2010 7:12:08 PM)

Thanks!  [:)]   Wow!! I had to take a peek.  There are 15 ... should they be read in order?

Level -> RE: Alex Cross (6/20/2010 7:23:55 PM)

Yes, I'd say yes for sure; they build upon one another, much like the Davenport books do. You don't HAVE to read them that way, but it makes it better.

Jeffff -> RE: Alex Cross (6/20/2010 7:27:09 PM)

I never tire of Davenport but for some reason Alex Cross wore me out after 3 or 4 books.

That's what I was wondering and why I asked [:)]   Thanks!! [:)]

I'm on my 3rd Cross book, so we'll see if fatigue sets in [:D]

Naw, Davenport is always good. But my favorites are the two with the hitwoman, Clara Rinker, and I the two with the crazy doctor, Bekker.

Jeffff -> RE: Alex Cross (6/20/2010 7:42:11 PM)

Lee Child rocks!

Level -> RE: Alex Cross (6/20/2010 7:47:58 PM)

Yep! Halfway through Gone Tomorrow, and then I'll jump on the new one. Reacher is a bad mother, him and his folding toothbrush [:D]

I hope you started reading his early work first ...Outside of the Cross series I was not too impressed with his work except for one great book...You should read it ... " The Jester"

I've read all of Patterson's books (including the Maximum Ride series meant for those slightly younger than me). Love Alex Cross, one of my favorite characters in the crime/thriller genre.

ElizabethAnne -> RE: Alex Cross (6/21/2010 4:10:57 AM)

They cast Morgan Freeman as Alex Cross in "Along Came a Spider" , good book, good movie.   I've read many James Patterson's books, not just the Cross series, and I have to say, I like the Cross series the best.

But I also liked Parker's Stone series, Parker died recently.  I think there was a tv movie made with Tom Sellek as Jessie Stone, maybe even have been two movies made with Sellek playing Jessie Stone.
