Does it rise to the level of prosecutable treason?

No.  He should not be fired.

How about an exit strategy?

And forget about the minerals- it takes 8 years to bring a mine online.

Should have been removed when he opened his trap about how many troops HE wanted. Last time I looked he wasn't running the show. Time for billy to go

http://www.thenation.com/article/mcchrystals-pat-tillman-connection

"Now the man who greased the chain of command that orchestrated this great deception is prepared to assume total control of US operations in Afghanistan: Lt. Gen. Stanley McChrystal. It was McChrystal who approved Tillman's posthumous Silver Star, a medal given explicitly for combat, even though he later testified that he "suspected" friendly fire."

He should have been immediately fired after this cover up and lie was discovered.

Treason? No.

Fired? Yes. Even if he was right in everything he said (and I'm sure not saying he wasn't), he's insubordinate. He has to go.

Behind closed doors yes. To the press before the President has said a word? Hell no. Insubordination.

Revisionist history. He sent a response to Blowboy's informal request long before he made any public statements.

Why make any public statement at all?

Why is that so hard for you to understand? Big difference between having a disagreement in private than choosing to air your grievances in public.

You don't strike me as the athletic or competitive type but there is a saying about keeping it "in the clubhouse."

Sabe?

This shit happens all the time. Why are you so surprised?

I don't understand the majority of your posts.

Treason? No.

Fireable offence? You bet.

McChrystal apparently missed the end of the MacArthur biography. General's don't fight with the civilian chain of command in the press.

Nope, not even close...poor taste and no sense of decorum perhaps, but hardy treason.

Lions and Tigers and Bears, somebody give that man a cigar. Okay he's a blunt bastard, he's not into playing club house politics. Seriously, if what he says is true about Obama not being prepared and other shit he says about people... seriously, people need to know this crap. Americans need to know what we are getting.

Anyways, to answer your question... Treason, No. In regards to him running his mouth off and being Insubordinate, YES... but is it a Bad thing? (stay tuned folks for history in the making)

It's pretty crystal clear that he's gonna stand by every word that came out of his mouth, which as everbody knows is not politically correct. Politics generally centers around trying to figure out what people want to hear, then saying it, if you get it wrong, announce a press conference for an offical apology, then adopting a new official position that is based upon what people want to hear.

Regardless of how radical this guy is or is not, you at least gotta respect him for standing by the shit that comes out of his mouth.

History may or may not prove this guy correct. One thing is for certain, this dude ain't gonna be the scape goat should things go wrong. You can read the whole Rolling Stone article here

If a General did this to Bush the lefties would say "he's speaking truth to power."
No, he shouldn't be fired, he's speaking "truth to power."
And Holbrook is exactly the type of person we *don't need* in govt.
