She’s Bush in a skirt.

FTA:

The poll asked people how they'd respond if a Congressional candidate had various hypothetical attributes. Asked how they'd feel if a candidate were "endorsed by Sarah Palin," the response was....

So a majority, 52%, reacted negatively. And an astonishing 37 percent would be "very uncomfortable" about a Palin endorsement, more than four times the eight percent who would be "enthusiastic" about it.

Even better, there were only two attributes a candidate might have that were seen as worse than a Palin endorsement: Supporting Bush's economic policies; and supporting the elimination of various Federal agencies and/or Social Security.

Obviously those pointing to Palin's influence are only concerned with her impact among GOP primary voters. But the above finding is another mark of just how toxic Palin has become to the rest of the world -- and how out of sync with public opinion the media obsession with Palin's influence really is.

Plum Line - Sarah Palin is toxic

Commentators keep telling us how influential Sarah Palin's endorsements are, and even if the whole "mama grizzly" meme is clearly overstated, there's no quibbling with the fact that Palin has pull among GOP primary voters.

But the more interesting point to be made about Palin is how toxic she's become among the broader electorate. In fact, buried in the internals of the new NBC/Wall Street Journal poll is an amusing number: A majority see a Palin endorsement as a clear negative.

The amazing thing to me is how insulated Palin's (and many of the Tea Party's) vocal supporters (you) are against the views of the vast majority of Americans. They/you actually believe that because they so strongly agree with Palin on the few positions she can articulate clearly, that most Americans feel the same way.

For anyone who thinks this poll results from some sort of left-wing bias, it's from NBC News AND Rupert Murdoch's Wall Street Journal.

Great. Now I have an image of her in the costume from that Britney Spears video running 'round my head. Thanks a lot, Brain.

So how are things in there in Canada, Brian?

All of your politicians and issues well taken care of, I assume?

I've heard that Canada is heaven?  That make the US hell, and you a preacher?

Gonna save us from ourselves?

I'd pretty much forgotten about her.  Thank you, Brain for continuing to promote her.  If not for people like you, she would fade away as being a non-issue.

I think he is hoping she will move to Canada to be near him. And now that I mention it, maybe that's a good idea. She likes hockey

Polls are one thing, elections are quite another. Judging by all the elections since 2008 Obama's endorsement has been many times over more toxic for Democrats than Palin's has for Republicans.

The longer Obama has been POTUS the more toxic he's become among the general electorate...currently about 55% toxic.

That poll is worthless.  I suspect that her endorsement is worse than that... Why the heck did they poll the general electorate?  They should have conducted two polls, one of GOP only (simulating a primary) and one of Dems and independents only.

There are TWO elections, the primary and the general.  Palin's endorsement may help a candidate in the primary, but it would be toxic in the general.  If we assume that a GOP candidate will draw GOP votes (probably a fair assumption), then the only concern should be to see how much a candidate appeals to crossover votes from the other party and independents.

In places like Utah, the Dem vote is essentially irrelevant and the winner of the GOP primary is likely to win the general.  But in balanced places like Colorado, votes from outside the party are necessary.

The thread so far appears to support the premise, at least in reverse; all but the certifiable apparently preferring not to provide so much as a word in support of her, presumably on account of the toxic nature of such association.

Perhaps the toxin has a stupefying effect? This would certainly explain the positions of those who appear to see her as anything but ignorant, dangerous and dumb.

Sigh of great annoyance. The simple fact is that the media and there hate of this woman is the basis of her power at a national level. I don't dislike her or strongly like her, although I am a conservative but the simple fact of that matter is that for some reason the media sees her as the neocon they love to hate. That generates a lot of sympathy from conservatives as a group which means they watch the stories downing her, adding to the left wing hobby of dislikeing of this woman. I mean really she's a ex-govonor and former (failed) canidate for the VP a year and a half ago. Does anyone even know who Jack Kemp was?
