Do you like cockiness?  Ego, is very much the same thing, only a different connotation. So, do you like deflated Ego's...someone who is passive, or does cockiness turn you on?
I'm not cocky and I don't have an Ego, but if this is what is desired I will begin to work on it.

I can't decide if there's a fine line or a huge difference in "confidence" and "cockiness". I need to think about that one for awhile longer.  However,  I love confidence.  I hate cockiness. 

If someone has to constantly inform and remind others of their own greatness, whatever it may be, in an obnoxious manner, then they most likely have severe insecurity problems.  That's a turn-off.

A man with a quiet assurance, who is secure in his own value and worth as a person and to society without having to wave his hands and announce it to the world, well, he's a real turn-on for me.  Because that tells me that he thinks I'm intelligent enough to see it for myself, and that's a compliment.  And sincere compliments are always a turn-on.

I admit that in men I like a certian amount of ego and cockiness. That's what turns me on. It took me awhile to learn that there was a difference between men who had no reason to be cocky, and men who had every reason to be cocky.

I'll spot the difference sooner or later, and it's likely I'll be driven to call someone on their undeserved bragging. [sm=paddle.gif]

Someone with a deflated ego, or low self-esteem is just not sexy. I'm always hopeful that I can say something to help them on the road to feeling better about themselves, but it's unlikely I'll be very attracted to them.

I've always been attracted to men who went after what they wanted and didn't whine, or make excuses. Whine, and you've lost some of my respect.

Eh.. i like confidence.  Some one who knows excatly  where they stand and arent afraid to stand it.  Confidence.. with good reason to back it up of course = )  Arrogance or cockiness will usually just have me batting at them.  Screwing around not taking them seriously.  Usually it is misplaced.. and i'm sure its the same as cockiness.  Confidence.. usually comes from success.. cockiness and arrogance usually come from things that have no depth and are generally a front.  Atleast i sort of view it this way.. i think..

i suppose arrogance with confidence to back it up.. might be abit different... though every situation has to be taken for its own and not with preconcieved judgements.

As for you being cocky.. i dont really know you well enough to answer.  i dont talk to you much.  But i do think you're abit silly.  LOL

This sounds like a loudmouth to me. Someone with self-esteem issues and without the knowledge or ability to handle those issues well. Could well be the other side of the coin of the bratty submissive, or maybe they just deserve each other lol.

Thanks.  And i agree about the self esteem problems with cockiness, which is why i refered to it as a "front"  As  for the other side of brattiness.. i dont really think so.  But it could be equivilent, i suppose.  Brattiness just doesnt seem to be a self esteem problem.  It could be an undisciplined way to seek attention, which i suppose cockiness is too... hmmm But not a self esteem issue i wouldnt think.  But i suppose some one who seeks attention in a non positive manner could be thought of as having low self esteem?  And i suppose, its also the intent. 

As i can be a brat at times.  Even with my man.  Not an attention seeking thing as i'm usually getting it at the time, but more as a fun going thing.  As it cracks him up. = ) 

And i can be a brat with other ppl.. tho i cant think of anything off hand.. but i could see myself doing it as it could be a fun way to screw with ppl = )  And if its on the up and up (everyone knows whats going on) it can be fun too. 

but maybe i have the definition of brat wrong.. Hmm lets see.. brat.. spoiled, snotty, some one you want to smack silly.  Arg.. hmm and a few other things i suppose.  Maybe i'm not actually a brat at times..

BUT i suppose one being a brat could still be about the intent.  Some maybe do not mean to be a brat but come off as one.  It could just be the way they are.. But then i'm related to a brat and it is just the way she is, but she's also got low self esteem. 

i'm certian the word "brat" can be a non negative thing.  Just not sure how to figure it out at the moment = )

It is all relative to your and your current peanut galleries point of view.

To be cocky and or confident is often not the real persona of the person . However those who are truly that way will quickly take control and make you understand why they claim they are so.

For the most part (and my point of view, managing people all my adult life) most who claim to be cocky and or exhibit those traits are usually one'e with low self esteem issues. When pushed, they break down and become cry babies when around a real dominant personality..

The real ones usually are laid back and self assured that they are in control of themselves and others, IF THEY DESIRE ATTENTION.

That said this is the internet and if you do not advertise yourself (either truthfully or NOT) then who will?!  Some are drawn to those who are cocky even if it is all show and no go!

If you accept the original Freudian definition of ego - "sense of self", then you should have an ego.  Those who are grounded with a good sense of who they are do come across as confident.  Since they aren't looking for your approval or verification, they may even be termed cocky if you are used to defining others who don't have a healthy ego and are willing to be who you want them to be in return for your approval.  You also see the opposite action by some without egos, they try to hide their uncertainty behind a mask of overconfidence and bravado, to most they encounter the mask is transparent.

In subs, those without good egos tend to be door mats.  Without a sense of who they are, they are what their dom says they are.    Those with grounded egos can serve without losing who they are.

Depends on how one wants to expand the definition. Confidence (to me) can be appealing most when it's: Cockiness with some finesse. Everyone is unique and I believe how people display this is individual. I think humor and creativity are never bad things (separately or at the same time) and I see people around here display it all the time. It's a pretty subjective judgment call.

Mysteriousness can be quite intriguing (to me) at times. 
Maturity (considering "when to stop" or, knowing when making a guess as to when it might be appropriate) is a good thing, I think. Maturity and non-defensiveness go hand-in-hand, I think (of course everyone has bad days here and there).
A pervasive sense of adventure is appealing and not something I'd consider "cocky" (whether or not someone posesses it is also almost completely subjective, but I like variety and enthusiasm (and there are times people really "need their space", too).

Sometimes supposedly "quiet" people can be considered "cocky" (they may not care much, though, he). Life of the party, gregarious extroverts are not people I consider cocky at all if they can show they care about people around them (ditto for the quiet types). Good topic.
