I hope the finance reform fails.  In terms of that- this is great news.

We need 1207.  Not 3000 pages of lobby talk.

Condolences to his family.

Hopefully this kills the finance reform bill, yet another 2,000+ bill Obama and the Democrats say needs to be passed before "We the people..." know everything that's in it.

One more senate up for grabs in November..

RIP Robert Byrd

He stated his worst mistake was joining the KKK... He was most proud of his opposition to the Iraq War.. I would agree with that.

He was right about Iraq, and I felt at the time he was the only voice that people who thought like I do had...

He had an amazing career and life

He had some things over his critics,a conscience and sense of shame.

I heard the vice-torturer is in hospital.

Maybe we can get a heavenly balance-out and take the evil and the good.

I admire the man for rising from humble beginnings.  But he was a prime example of pork era politics...

Name one senator that does not have their hand out for "pork"... for crying out loud, it is their job to get the money that the fed spends to come to their state... all those senators whining about the stimulus spending were the first ones to appear to hand out the giant checks to spend those dollars because it lets their constituents know what they have been doing for them... Those who insulted Byrd for it were just jealous because he was better at it than they were... called sour grapes

Accen-tuate the positive...

Owner59 -> RE: Robert 'Sheets' Byrd (D-KKK) 1917 - 2010 (6/28/2010 8:34:29 AM)

He was worse, because he was successful at getting federal dollars.

The pork thing is so riculous anyway.

Define what pork is.

One man`s pork is another man un-needed weapons system.I don`t know a single pol who rails against "pork" that doesn`t recieve federal dollars of some kind.Be it a bridge to nowhere or a fighter jet that can`t fly when it rains or something really needed like a dam or high tention-high voltage lines.

juliaoceania -> RE: Robert 'Sheets' Byrd (D-KKK) 1917 - 2010 (6/28/2010 8:49:35 AM)

Pork is so much better than an unfunded mandate

Owner59 -> RE: Robert 'Sheets' Byrd (D-KKK) 1917 - 2010 (6/28/2010 8:51:53 AM)

And you can make beacon with it.

What in the world is better than beacon?[:D]

RIP Senator Byrd.

Seems others here can not be respectful of the dead, without interjecting their pettiness. Would you like those who didnt like you, to mock your death? Or respect you?

subrob1967 -> RE: Robert 'Sheets' Byrd (D-KKK) 1917 - 2010 (6/28/2010 10:31:31 AM)

So long, and thanks for all the pork!

All bedsheets to be flown at half-mast for three days.

servantforuse -> RE: Robert 'Sheets' Byrd (D-KKK) 1917 - 2010 (6/28/2010 1:15:10 PM)

I say good riddance. He also voted with his democrat buddies against the civil rights act in 1964. A lying hippocrit..

Sanity -> RE: Robert 'Sheets' Byrd (D-KKK) 1917 - 2010 (6/28/2010 1:29:50 PM)

More proof that when it suits their agenda Democrats readily embrace racists.

Quite. That's why the current Democrat President is whiter than most albinos.

Sanity -> RE: Robert 'Sheets' Byrd (D-KKK) 1917 - 2010 (6/28/2010 1:38:15 PM)

He and his attorney general are obvious racists too, also embraced by Democrats despite their known history.
