Answering from my Domme to male sub point of view...I can't blame the lifestyle nor even what people say on these forums.  I have had the worst problem with new or sort of new male subs in my area who were influenced too much by forays into BDSM porn and online scening.  Training them to open up and speak to me can be very frustrating and time consuming, as they "know" their place and how they should behave...
