I'm not talking about her appearances on other people's shows.  I've read every single one of her books, and the woman is extremely intelligent.  What she says on TV is supposed to piss people off and incite riots in the street (obvious sarcasm and over-dramatization here).  She knows what she's doing.  If she can piss people like you off that much, her job is done.  ^_^

I got one

During the Bush years (the last one) 100's if not thousands of people where employed to illegally listen in on all our conversions, read our emails, read our text messages and basically invade our privacy.  Thereby reducing the unemployment numbers

ROFL.  The Homeland Security Department was the biggest piece of government thrown up in the name of the Republican Party.  It was such bull.  Thanks for the laugh.  ^_^

She called Katy Couric a Nazi, "eva braun" wannabe in one of her books....How is this not being nasty, hateful?

I don't give my power away to people like Ann Coulter... there is nothing she could say that could make me feel bad. I feel sad there are people who actually get off on dividing this country and others that look up to people like that... you know, people like you....

As far as the comment about Couric, she was quoted in Slander as saying that, but I might have to go back and see what the exact context of the comment was.  Quoting one line out of a book is akin to sound-biting Obama as saying something outlandish.  As I see it, she was responding to the accusation Couric made about the deaths of two people in Texas, attributing those deaths to, " religious zealots or Christian Conservatives."  I believe, from my understanding of history, that she was making a connection about the blanket discrimination to Jews also the the discrimination she felt was evident concerning the Christian Conservatives.

-Shrugs.-  While it's a bit extreme, I see the parallel.

You obviously have, since you seem to abhor her so much.  I don't think she gets off on diving the country.  I think she genuinely believes what she says, and whether or not I agree with everything she says, I can admire that.  I don't always agree with her, but I support her right to do so, and I support a lot of what she's said in her books.  Not all.  I feel I need to reiterate that.

Whatever dude, go on with your admiration for tripe... I could pull out a link that dissects her books and the spin, demonization of the other side, etc, but truly it would be a waste of my time because 1) you would probably dismiss it and 2) I really don't care who is a fan of hers and thinks she is "intellectual" because she knows which end of a sentence a period belongs on...

I've read a lot of the opposite and I agree with some of what is said.  What's the problem here?  Because I find her at least a bit informative that's a problem?  People find ways to admire Mao, and that's okay.  ^_^

Ann supporting her comments.....

quote:

(CNN) -- Author Ann Coulter turns her guns on the liberal left in her new book, "Slander: Liberal Lies About the American Right." In it she labels "Today" show host Katie Couric the "Eva Braun of morning television." To defend her claim, Coulter steps into the "Crossfire" with hosts James Carville and Tucker Carlson.

CARVILLE: Well, Ann, let's go to the screen here and put something up -- a picture or two of people that you talk about in your book. All right, now you recognize one of the people as Katie Couric. You may not recognize -- oh, there's a woman named Eva Braun who was Adolph Hitler's mistress and then on the last day of their lives got married and then committed suicide together. You might call that the ultimate shotgun wedding.

Ms. Coulter, in your book you say the "affable Eva Braun of morning TV" authoritatively informed President George Bush, 41, that the Republican Convention had relinquished too much time to what some term the radical religious right. What is it that Katie Couric and Eva Braun have in common?

COULTER: Well, again, I have to recommend the entire book or at least these entire paragraphs to the viewers. I had just quoted Katie Couric blaming the dragging death of James Byrd on Christian conservatives, a quote which is in full in footnotes only partially in the text. You can look at it on page 238, which I think is an astonishing, an absolutely astonishing statement. So yes, the point I'm making by referring to her as the affable Eva Braun of morning TV right after that, really, I think, rather ugly quote about Christians ...... is to say that she hides behind her Girl scout persona in order to systematically promote a left-wing agenda.

CARLSON: But one of the points you make in the book, and I agree with it wholeheartedly, is that liberals are embarrassingly quick to compare the right to the Nazis. It's appalling and you hear it all the time and here you are doing it. Now Katie Couric, you know, may be annoying. Sure, she's a liberal, but Eva Braun, I mean that's over the top and it's self-discrediting, isn't it? I mean that's not fair to compare to Hitler's wife. I mean if she's, again, if she's annoying or too liberal or whatever, but isn't that a liberal tactic to compare her to Hitler's wife? I mean please.

COULTER: No, I think it is not a liberal tactic at all, though it is a liberal tactic to be -- pretend to be -- absolutely humorless, Tucker. The quotes I used for liberals comparing conservatives ...

CARLSON: ... you are calling me humorless Ann? Come on.

COULTER: No, I'm saying -- I'm merely -- I'm saying what I'm saying. I don't know why I'm always having people say, are you trying to say -- you know what you can do if you want to know what I'm saying is listen to what I'm saying. What I'm saying is what I said ...

CARLSON: I tried that ........ I couldn't understand. Come on Ann.

COULTER: That is a liberal tactic to pretend not to understand irony, hyperbole, sarcasm. The quotes I have of liberals calling Republicans Nazis or comparing Republican policies to the Holocaust of bringing back slavery to throwing women and children off the -- off the -- whatever it is -- they're always being thrown off something ..... Those are not said in humor. They are not meant to be funny. They are meant to frighten people.

As far as the death of James Byrd...

quote:

James Byrd, Jr. (May 2, 1949 – June 7, 1998) was an African-American who was murdered in Jasper, Texas, on June 7, 1998. The murderers, Shawn Allen Berry, Lawrence Russell Brewer, and John William King, wrapped a heavy logging chain around his ankles, hooked the chain to a pickup truck, and then dragged Byrd about three miles along a macadam pavement as the truck swerved from side to side.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Murder_of_James_Byrd,_Jr.

The gorey details are at the above link.

Also contained within the same link is the following...

quote:

The following morning, Byrd's limbs were found scattered across a seldom-used road. The police found 75 places that were littered with Byrd's remains. State law enforcement officials, along with Jasper's District Attorney, determined that since Brewer and King were well-known white supremacists, the murder was a hate crime. They decided to call upon the Federal Bureau of Investigation less than 24 hours after the discovery of Byrd's remains.

King's body bore several tattoos: a black man hanging from a tree, Nazi symbols, the words "Aryan Pride," and the patch for a gang of white supremacist inmates known as the Confederate Knights of America.[3] In a jailhouse letter to Brewer that was intercepted by jail officials, King expressed pride in the crime and said he realized that he might have to die for committing it. "Regardless of the outcome of this, we have made history. Death before dishonor. Sieg Heil!", King wrote.[1] An officer investigating the case also testified that witnesses said King had referenced The Turner Diaries after beating Byrd.[4]

Berry, Brewer, and King were tried and convicted for Byrd's murder. Brewer and King received the death penalty, while Berry was sentenced to life in prison.

Likening them to Nazi's seems to have been their own idea, not Courics.
