I guess maybe it's the adrenalin and the flight or fight response?

probably... you have all this adrenaline...... and nothing to do with it.

A heavy bag to hit can help.

Or a person.......

The shaking is a side-effect of high levels of adrenaline on the nervous system -- especially when it is dumped into the system very quickly. Think of it like drinking 100 cups of coffee in 30 minutes, and you'll get the picture.

Eating something, especially something protein-based, will ameliorate the reaction which also causes the blood vessels in your brain to get smaller, cutting down the oxygen supply to your brain, and slowing your thinking... meaning that we tend to react instinctively under the influence of large amounts of adrenaline, rather than with a reasoned response -- so eating something protein will give you the chance for your body to relax a bit, and will restore your ability to think more clearly. Don't substitute sugar, though -- sugar can aggravate the reaction by causing a secondary spike in insulin levels, which will actually augment the adrenaline problem, instead of resolving it.

When I get to that point, I actually can't eat anything until I have calmed down at least partially.

So, Calla... to extremely over-simplify what you said, beef jerky will make me not want to kill the dumb sumbitch yelling at me over the phone at work?

Also, if it causes contraction of the blood vessels in the brain, does that mean I can also treat my headaches with beef jerky instead of ibuprofen?

SCORE!!!

No, beef jerky will just stop you from shaking and help your brain to function again so you can calculate the most effective angle so you can throw the knife with more accuracy!

Actually, if it is an adrenaline headache, then yeah, it might work... the reason the protein works for the shakes is because it forces the body to start processing all that extra adrenaline (the adrenaline shuts down the digestive system, so forcing it back into function with something that won't trigger an insulin spike starts the body's process of managing the adrenaline "overdose".) I -have- found, though, that sometimes my headaches are from low blood sugar, and that eating a piece of beef jerky or hard cheese will take care of the headache, so I guess it's worth a try, huh... and if it doesn't work, at least you had an excuse to eat some jerky, right?

Aww... but, I guess the company I work for might complain a little if I started killing customers. I've told 'em and told 'em that I'd only kill the annoying ones... and that one guy in CA who calls in every three freakin' days... and the guy that called complaining he couldn't send a picture of his cock to his ex-girlfriend...

Not adrenaline headaches, sadly... but I'll take any excuse for eating beef jerky that I can get!

It is for me, but I only get really pissed off when I am hurt or really scared.

physically or metaphorically?  Is someone literally pushing you into a corner or are they calling you out on something?

Most do not realize that adrenaline causes a change in the breathing pattern.
Sharp short breaths can deprive the brain of oxygen, causing a lack of control as far as rational/thought process, however slight. The brain, when deprived of even the slightest amount of oxygen, will go into a form of Fight or Flight mode, mistaken as an even higher level of agitation, which causes more adrenalin to be released, which alters the breathing pattern even further....a vicious cycle for some.

The best thing to do is sit down and concentrate on maintaining a level, even breathing pattern.

I used to have a heavy bag that I'd hit when I was angry. Then one day I hit it so hard, it ripped the ceiling mount out of the studs (wich were in good shape otherwise) and sent it flying about 10 feet across my basement. Im scared to think what would have happened if it was a person.

Metaphorically speaking.

My friends dude, He just assumed I was at the house to have sex with him, instead of hanging out with my best friend, like I was, and then decided to be an ass about me rejecting sex, and  I had tried to be polite, but he acted so badly and rudely about my rejection, I got pissed off and ended up letting him have it with both " guns" verbally as the saying goes.

Though I have had people try to push me around physically, and that pissed me off too, and I came out swinging on those occasions.

We all shake or shiver when we are nervous or cold. Shaking is a normal reaction to fear and/or a drop in body temperature. Shaking occurs when the muscles spasmodically contract creating friction between muscles and other body tissues. This friction creates heat which raises body temperature. During anxiety it is quite normal to experience shaking or shivering. It will pass. I know when I get really emotional I shake like I am having a seazure

and if you have fibromyalgia you can even be more doomed, as emotional distress (due to anger, upsettness, whatever you wanna chose) can lead to pain in the muscles on top of it...on the fibro page which I use it says

Researchers believe repeated nerve stimulation causes the brains of people with fibromyalgia to change. This change involves an abnormal increase in levels of certain chemicals in the brain that signal pain (neurotransmitters). In addition, the brain's pain receptors seem to develop a sort of memory of the pain and become more sensitive, meaning they can overreact to pain signals.

Since I know that I observed that in such moments (which are rare, since I know now to avoid them and to bother about significantly less then I used to before, as after all...not many people are worthy for me to end up in pain for them due to getting too anoyed about them ) I feel tingling at the back of my head...which leads me to assume that might be as there the abnormal increase of certain chemicals (whatever they are) might take place to lead me into pain...

so with other words it takes a heck of a lot by now to wind me up
