LaContessa -> Sexploitation of Women in Advertising on Collarme (4/14/2006 5:45:10 PM)

I find it very interesting that, on a site such as Collarme, where there is such a highly articulated and defined focus on gender issues, the advertising predominantly portrays women as playthings for males. I would have thought, especially given the number of Dommes that frequent this site, that the advertising would be more balanced along gender lines. Why must I endure the sight of scantily clad cum hungry girls every time I log on to Collarme? I thought we had come further than that in the quest for female/male equality. Sadly, it seems that this is not the case.
Don't get me wrong... I'm not a prude, and I do understand the need for advertising on a site such as this, but where is the equity? Where are the ads for the gorgeous boys who would sell themselves for MY pleasure?
It seems patriarchy is alive and well even on Collarme and I despair at this ever changing even slightly while so little thought is going into the advertising images displayed on this site.

MrrPete -> RE: Sexploitation of Women in Advertising on Collarme (4/14/2006 5:59:38 PM)

You actually pay attention to the advertising?[:)]

Since advertising pays the bills and the advertisers you dislike out number
those you want is collarme supposed to turn down advertising to maintain
equality?

Patriarchy has nothing to to do with it. It's marketing to your target audience.
Maybe the advertisers you want don't think collarme has a big enough
target audience to spend thier advertising dollar.

I like scantily clad cocksuckers.  You do not.  E Pluribus Unum.

Bottom line, to make money. The sponsers and ads generate income for the site owners. It has nothing to do with parity or some major advancement of social issues for women but simply cash for the site owners. By the way, on many forums if you mention this or discuss it, it will get you banned.

Try eBay. That is where my owner got me.

Sadly most of those sites would be targeting a gay male audience.

If you know of a site that offers products you like or images you like, perhaps you could contact them and suggest that they advertise here. They may have no idea this website exists or how big of a potential market they could be reaching.

It's funny, if you hadn't mentioned it I wouldn't even have noticed.

Tammy,

Already been discussed in another venue by Mercnbeth and myself, there is no overwhelming constituency for this, whithout regard to anyone's individual godliness.

Ron
But if you can whip a couple asses enough that they may raise a shout to the heavens, I am convinced that everyone concerned will re-evaluate the status quo.

LOL

Arpig -> RE: Sexploitation of Women in Advertising on Collarme (4/14/2006 6:29:57 PM)

its simple....there are more straight male oriented porn sites than all others combined....so the adverts for those sites will tend to outnumber the others.
Collarme is in the business of selling space to people who wish to promote their product/service to an audience that self-defines as kinky, and most of those are in the business of making as much money as humanly possible as fast as humanly possible, and what is the best known way to do this.....pictures of naked college-aged women...it sells better than anytyhing else online, and it will also help you sell anything else better as well.
Why you ask?   because middle-aged white men are the largest consumers of porn out there, and they are also the demographic that controls the largest amount of cash, so if you want to get your hands on that money, you had best give them what they want. And what do middle-aged white men usually want....naked college girls.

proudsub -> RE: Sexploitation of Women in Advertising on Collarme (4/14/2006 6:34:04 PM)

I certainly don't care what the ads show as long as it keeps the site free for us.

meatcleaver -> RE: Sexploitation of Women in Advertising on Collarme (4/14/2006 6:45:39 PM)

The simple fact is and this might be a gross over simplification but generally true, when it comes to sex, women sell and men buy.

Advertising is about selling a product and political correctness doesn't enter the equation. Why spend money advertising something that will sell itself?

brightspot -> RE: Sexploitation of Women in Advertising on Collarme (4/14/2006 7:09:13 PM)

Personally, Idon't spend a whole lot of time on the other side.
I didn't like the cocksucking pic's when CM first took the jump to
advertise. They have tamed the pic's down and I appreciate that.
CM made a choice in order to keep this site up and running as a free
site and to also make it a better operational site.

RAH! RAH![sm=applause.gif]

I have been much more blasted with porn pic's at other sites compared to CM
and it's still at least $40.00 bucks to have a decent membership.
So sorry I can not support your bitching[sm=boohoo.gif].

Adblock is your friend.

KarbonCopy -> RE: Sexploitation of Women in Advertising on Collarme (4/14/2006 7:40:46 PM)

Figures some nit picky snob would eventually post some unreasonable pro feminist rights post over those damn ads.

They're just ads, for buisness, why not attack a billboard, or better yet, get a life.

I think beyond her words, she was expressing disappointment in not finding ads that interested her.... thus my suggestion that she contact companies and sites she knows about and suggest they advertize here.

Would you like it if all the ads had men in them but no women? Wouldn't that sort of annoy you a bit?

One may complain but I think its probably more productive to try and do something like find other advertizers. I'm sure the moderators have their hands full and I doubt they'd frown on others of us passing along knowledge about this site to business who might have the desire and money to advertize.

CanadianGuy -> RE: Sexploitation of Women in Advertising on Collarme (4/14/2006 7:53:39 PM)

Kinda reminds me of the whole "guys can't get their photos approved for profiles, while a girl can take a picture of her big toe and it goes up the same day" issue going on here.

Proprietrix -> RE: Sexploitation of Women in Advertising on Collarme (4/14/2006 7:57:36 PM)

There are advertisements we're supposed to be looking at?

I guess I'm lucky in that I have not seen these advertisements to which you all speak. I just log on, check my mail, pop over to the forums, and ocassionally message someone interesting.

On the first screen when you login.  But if it means that much to you, give me your credit card number and you can see me nekkid.

wytchywoman -> RE: Sexploitation of Women in Advertising on Collarme (4/14/2006 8:17:37 PM)

LMAO. Or as I said ealier in this thread...check eBay.  That is how my owner got me.

Ebay used to have this thing where they released real names, addresses, and phone numbers to ANYONE. I think they've stopped that practice unless it's between a buyer and seller.

At the time my owner found me though, he requested my info from eBay and they sent it. We were bidding on the same flogger and seems he wanted to know who the impudent bitch was who was bidding against him.

After many e-mails where I called him less than human, we are now very happy together. I should send eBay a thank you note for their horrible privacy policies.
