Y'all lost me making lists at "skullfucking." First entry and then I gave up continuing.

By birth, Lance is a NORTH Chicago boy, and therefore his team is the Cubs.  Current meds preclude any alcohol even tho' Coors brewery is but a few miles from where I type this.  Never did like beer anyway.  Momma always said "Beer is nothing but liquid bread."  Winter drink (was) 7-and-7 and my Summer drink (was) Gin-n-tonic - especially since my Peace Corps service was on a British Island in the Caribbean..... poor, poor Lance.  He had to sit out the Vietnam war in the Caribbean.... poor, poor Lance.

Last night's SF was wunnerful, just wunnerful...... Leather collar on the boy, both hands inside his er,... my collar (which he was wearing), one each side, making sure he didn't move too far.

Ahem.... getting back on topic: Favorite 4th of July recipe:  Watermelon basket - all fancy, with all cut fruits, just as faggy as you can imagine.  Sprinkled with a tiny bit of curry and even less of cinnamon before tossing.

2nd favorite: Ex-lover's rotisserier <sp?> chicken on grill - I do NOT know what he did other than use NOTHING - not even salt - moist, tender, flavorful.  He would ask people what they thought the poultry "rub" was and they'd guess all kinds of things.  My mouth is watering as I type this.

3rd favorite: my award-winning (really!) Key-lime pie.  I tasted up-n-down Atlantic Coast of Florida - literally, from Cape Canaveral (at the time - now Kennedy) to Key West and never found better - or more authentic.  YUM!  But it doesn't hold up very well in the heat of a picinic.  It's okay, but much better served inside.

And yes, 7 & 7 is a fine beverage concoction.

lessee. 4th nearly gone now.

potato salad, hot dogs, white bread (hey, couldn't find any hot dog buns!), chips, grape jello with rasberries and whipped cream.

no fireworks, but it was dark by 6 pm anyways.

rugged up in sweater and scarf to keep warm, heater on at home now.

would have loved to have had s'mores!

the 4th just isn't the same anymore. sigh.

You can't get more Caucasian than that.

Oh, yes you can.  Take out raspberries and change whipped cream to be Cool Whip.  Also, add the store-bought cole-slaw when you're getting the potato salad.
Beverage: Coke.  And you'd go to enough stores until you HAD those buns.

Lance Hughes I have a question for you...

I make a lime pie with regular limes as the key limes out here in California are so small that I would need 20 just to get 2/3 cup of juice or whatever amount the recipe calls for.

Do you actual key limes for your pie? Mine comes out really well using regular limes. I absolutely love key lime pie.

I got my recipe off of food network..

Please share the recipe if you have time...

Thanks!

Let's see....... key limes are hard to get in Colorado.  I've used bottled key lime juice (expensive, y'think) and could not tell the difference.  Likewise for using "regular" limes.  Basically, I've tried various Key limes and I now use "regular" ones every time.

I think what happened was that when the pie was invented, ONLY key limes were available, so that was what the pies were made of.  Stir in some mystique and away we go!

I've done an orange pie with one-for-one volume substitues.  (Grated rind and juice.) Yummy!!  That one lasted about 35 seconds!

Recipe?.... Where did I put that recipe?.... oh, I know.... it's in....

recipe file drawer.  The file with the lock on it!

Sorry.... But here's a big hint: Bon Appetit had one years and years ago (as in pre-internet years ago.)  Maybe, just maybe, mine is based on theirs.... Okay, Lance.  We get it.  So can you say what is different?  Sure. Meringue is "handled" differently and there are two types garnishes (which throw it into the awards category.)

ETA:  Just did a quickie-Google search.  Evidently, the most recent one by Bon Appetit is some sort of two-layer monstrosity.  NOPE!  Not what I make.  Mine is totally traditional.  And if you even say the words "green food coloring," you get evicted from my kitchen.  Hell.  Say it?  If you even THINK IT..... LOL!

it was just another day here as we don't celebrate this holiday. If you ignore the loud explosions, it was really just another day.
