So I wanted to post this in General BDSM, but figured it is slightly more comical than a indepth discussion so I put it here, that does not mean we cannot offer serious answers just not everyone has to be taken seriously.
So you've come to CM to ask a question, for some reason you are stuck on something and you figure ask a large pool of people throw enough shit against a wall and see what sticks.
Things I have found one should avoid.
Don't ask a question about Orientation, such as Dom, sub, Master, slave, Top, bottom and what the difference is unless you have achieved 850 posts of at least have a paddle next to your Handle, to do otherwise will get you a list of posts that either make fun of the fact that you do not already know or suggest that you make use of the Search Function.
If you do use the search fucntion and find something that really helps you out and you want to either ask a question about it or make reference to that post, don't do it, you will only be reprimanded for reopening an old thead, some time this works if the thread is only a few months old but if more than a year has passed the only answers you are likely to get is "You reopened a year old thread to ask that?" And then no one really answers the questions you asked, instead jokes get made at other posts in that thread that actually are over a year old rather than your question which is pretty new.
Should you ask a question that deals with a situation you are currently in where you are unhappy but don't know what to do..... get ready to be told your Master/sub is Abusive/using you and you should "Run, don't walk" so as not to eventually end up in a shallow grave, cause you should know that when there is a problem in a BDSM relationship it's easier to walk away than actually work on it.
Should someone else ask a question, and you feel your opinion hasn't been reflected and feel you should share it, be prepared to start to engage in a "Discussion" these "discussions" often look like arguments and at times can look like you are getting slammed just because you disagree with the "Herd" It's okay you do not have to reply anymore you said you peace, just know that you will be called out as running away and not having the integrity to stand behind your view if you do not return.
Should you ask an unpopular question and from what you describe you are painted by other people as being a horrible or otherwise less desireable person two things may happen, you may try to defend previous statements only to have more and more possibly inacurate statements made about you until you feel like Frankensteins Monster and think the posters have torches and Pitchforks. Or you stay away from your own thread reading it every once in awhile to see that 5 pages in the only person who honestly did address your original post seems to be setting you up for other posters to talk more shit about you.
Should you have an unusual coupling, be it based on Age, Looks, Gender, Personality expect to be told how wrong you are for wanting what you want. You are 18 and your partner is 50, well if YOU are a Guy and a sub.... Well no Harm no Foul, If You are a Girl and a Sub your Partner is a Pedophile, If you are a Guy and a Dom your partner is a Cougar and your relationship is based on sex and nothing more, if you are a Girl and a Domme you are a Gold Digger and the only reason you would want him is for the money he gives you.
In Short, if you are going to ask a question on CollarMe, know that there are lots of people who think their opinion matters and will tell you how THEY see YOUR relationship when in reality few of them have the Balls to do what you just did, They don't post about their relationships... MOST, and yes I know that is a serious judgement, Most of them are either single or their relationship is so far removed from what they themselves think is a BDSM relationship that they would rather tear down someone elses relationship rather than admit their own is even to themselves pretty much a failure.
Ask any question you like, but be sure to put on your big boy/girl pants/panties and Thick up that skin cause you will be met with assholes.
I am actually one of them. I can admit that. If I think what you asked is silly I will point that out... I will also try to answer your questions, It may not be presented as kindly as you might like but it's what you are going to get here. I can assure you my comment will not be the Meanest, but it probably won't be the nicest either.

Perhaps the Ranks of CollarMe will feel like posting other types of questions that get asked and how the get answered, maybe someone would like to post on how we have specific forum sections and how no matter who you ask anyone will answer, or maybe our beloved posters will feel the need to show you the kind of wonderful replies you will get to certain types of commentary.
