People post opinions. Its not our problem if people take these personally. You put things on a public forum expect all kinds of reactions. Plus those types of topics can make people emotional. I personally found it refreshing to be called on my shit when I was new. I learned from it.

Often times people post more than just their opinions, far to often they post those opions as absolutes. Even more often some people post their opinions with blatant insults or attacks (myself included).

And  when that happens people say something or they come to the defense of others. To say this place is a pitchfork mentality in not accurate.

It is not always a pitch fork mentality but in the years I have been here there have been times that mentality HAS occured. Although I admit that is based on MY personal perception of things.

I think somewhere something I said got turned into something it wasn't ever intended to be.

This thread is not saying that people Shouldn't do something but rather to point it out for what it is.

I am literally telling someone if they plan on posting a question here THIS is what they are more than likely going to get, Rarely if ever do I see people addressing an actual issue presented by an Op, I do however see many people doing the things I listed above.

This post was designed to be slightly humorus as well as make an honest statement about what happens to threads around here. I at one time only thought it was the seriously controvercial threads but even the Ho-Hum threads have it,

When I posted this in P&RS it was simply because I thought it would end up here anyway, because no matter how serious something may be to the person who asked the question it rarely holds that seriousnes to the people who post. And it doesn't HAVE to.

I personally like to Address the Elephant in the Livingroom and Discuss how to get rid of it, Other just like to discuss the Elephant and other people like to Discuss what Kind of elephant it is and then how it is wrong to call it this kind of elephant because in their house it would be this kind of elephant, or in there house there would never be an elephant at all.

"If a poster puts a post up asking for opinions, they can not control the opinions. We arent going to tell people what they want to hear. But we will be giving them some valid points of view.

Sometimes the hardest thing to hear and what appears to be the cruelest is the most loving or the truth. Its not sugarcoated. I thank people for their treatment of me as a newbie. I thought they were harsh, but they were right. They are now the people I respect the most."

Lushy, here is a place where we differ.

While I do think there are times when we can "kill someone with kindness" in my opinion, those times are very rare.

I try to lead with compassion.
I do not always succeed.

I try to understand first and lay judgement aside.
New posters especially tend to not express exactly what they meant to convey.
Sometimes they aren't even sure what it is they need/want to ask.

I try to remember that on any given day I might be new at something too... in fact, if I am lucky, hopefully more often than not, I will be.

People make mistakes all the time.
We are all perfectly imperfect.

I don't think that discussions are made worse with kindness, patience and understanding.

People often perceive new posters as asking dumb questions.
If you've never done it before, how can it be dumb.

It may be, that in fact they have done it a million times, in a "vanilla" setting.
Until they make the connection that it is basically the same, it is not a dumb question.
Ignorance is not knowing. It is not stupidity.

....and at times can look like you are getting slammed just because you disagree with the "Herd" It's okay you do not have to reply anymore you said you peace, just know that you will be called out as running away and not having the integrity to stand behind your view if you do not return.

Should you ask an unpopular question and from what you describe you are painted by other people as being a horrible or otherwise less desireable person two things may happen, you may try to defend previous statements only to have more and more possibly inacurate statements made about you until you feel like Frankensteins Monster and think the posters have torches and Pitchforks. Or you stay away from your own thread reading it every once in awhile to see that 5 pages in the only person who honestly did address your original post seems to be setting you up for other posters to talk more shit about you.

Classic! Some very keen observations being made people..........luci

I think those who come here showing respect and with a desire to learn get treated nicely. Its only those trolling for a reaction or complaining about something that gets people in a dither.

Not true, I direct you to just about any and every punishment thread in the last year.

The Idea that someone wants to Punish someone usually gets nasty comments from those who disagree with Punishment Dynamics.

The girl who was involved in a relationship with a Man 35 years older than her was respectful and asked an honest question and she was told her master was basically a pedophile for doing so.

Lusciouslips you have been around long enough, I can't believe that you would say such a thing.

I can't believe that you don't see it, so I guess I would rather ask do you not see anything disrespectful about the above examples I gave?

QSM

I believe it. (the blindness and seeing whatever one wants to see.) I saw a thread last night in which some fellow asked a specific question, and ten people answered a completely different question than what he asked about and nobody, not even the thread starter who seemed thrilled with the attention he was getting from the regular posters, happened to notice this fact. I was going to answer his actual question, but then something my former master used to say (well, actually, he'd sing it) all the time came to me "There's no hope, there's no hope, there's JUST NO HOPE!" ;) So I slowly disentangled my fingers from the keyboard and edged out of yet another never-never-land thread.

You know what's interesting about those punishment threads is that not only are many posters anti-punishment, but when a new poster reports that his submissive is disobeying, the instant chours is (sing along with me, folks!) "Kick Her To the Curb!" What's shocking is that the chorus starts singing for the most minor of infractions or normal submissive newbie mistakes--as if the posters themselves haven't ever made such mistakes (or aren't currently committing greater ones and getting away with it scott free). As you concluded above, I think certain individuals must be pretty damn miserable in their own relationships: no one else except that sort tries so very hard to break up others' relationships.

So. No working with your submissive, no disciplining her, no teaching the right way, no seeing that this is a training failure on your part and you need to get smarter, more skilled, better at discipling and control, no trying to preserve what you may have spent a long time building, just crash the relationship to pieces, dump her on the street if she is the tinest bit disobedient. Who in this instant-grati world can be bothered to discipline and train these days? Especially when you can just go dash over to Subs-R-Us next door (aka the personals), having learned nothing from your experience except that people cry when they're kicked (No! really?), and pick up your next human commodity.

Sheesh, I don't even throw out my dustbuster when it "misbehaves." I try to clean its filter. :/

Good thread. It's sad to have to say this, but you nailed this forum.

AQSM, I applaud you for having the balls to say what it is.
Many here, don't have the balls or guts to say what you have said.

Like Caring and Real said, you nailed it.
Peace

I disagree marie, this place is what it is.
Closing down the boards would do NOTHING to change this place.
I don't see this place as a "bad place".
People have a right to behave the way they want to behave, what is funny,

is when people call a spade a spade.
It just is what it is.

Well calling it a pitch fork mentality is not accurate. Thats the flaw to the point. Thats like saying everyone is out to get all new people. This is not the case. There are loads of people who got a wonderful reception. There is also posters that always welcome people in the Introduction thread.

This is more like a playground. Lots of activities and groups. Some play nice, some are bullies. Its the nature of life. This is just a microcosm of the outside world we live in. Whether its the kids at school or the people at the office/

Unfortunately just like the op you have a hard time recognizing what people are saying.

Marie wants you and QSM to get your lives in order. You are complaining about things that are out of your control and that run fairly well.

Makes you look rather pathetic and unable to deal.
