Agreed.  I also found it as very empowering as a female and a human being.  (Freak that I am).

Not only did Hostel not arouse me but it was also quite distasteful at times. I watched all Saw movies and id rather see them again than endure through Hostel.. That's just me though.

As LP pointed out, role doesn't determine sadism, nor does gender.

I am a sadist, mutilation and decapitation themes do not come remotely close to arousing me.

What you might be interested in as a similar subject that was a bit more reality based.  Not too long ago there were a couple of threads related to certain arousal that was linked to news or police reports.  One thread was in the general section and the other was in Ask A Submissive.  You may find some comments in those that will be close enough to answer what you're looking for.  The threads shouldn't be too hard for you to find.

Not only was i around for that thread, it was a driving force behind this question.

I viewed the film, am a sadist but I don't meet your cock criteria. If you want a different perspective, feel free to ask as I do have an opinion on the film and an answer to your question which I have not seen voiced.

were you in any way aroused by the torture scenes included in it?

I ask as I came upon it while browsing movie channels the other day, and- in light of my recent interactions with the sadists on this forum- viewed it quite differently than before. It occurred to me while watching that this might be something some of you found 'exciting' in ways other than what the director intended. Was this the case for anyone here? Those who have not viewed the film but have had similar experiences with other productions are invited to jump in as well.

As a corollary, if such an operation existed in earnest, would you be tempted to visit? (anyone reluctant to answer this portion in the affirmative even under the condition of relative anonymity are welcome to answer via private message)
You should watch this French film called "Irreversible".

I loved that film, Irreversible, but don't classify it as a horror film. Some interesting rape scenes, however.

Okay. I didn't get any sort of sexual turn-on from viewing Hostel but it did speak to a one of my peculiar fantasy's that gets fevered by the idea of non-consensual torment as well as abduction (actually, I like both sides of that abduction scene). I don't have any fantasy's about snuffing someone, but some of the elements of the kidnappings, torment and such did make me go 'hmm' .. to myself and I can't deny they are in my brain at times. Consent and sadism rock.. but having the fantasy of being able to do what I want without limits sort of rocks as well .. as long as it stays firmly planted in my head. In other words, I'm quite happy with the fantasy but such a reality would never work for me.

I never viewed Hostel, don't care for horror movies because they tend to be really dumb. It did appeal to a rather peculiar fantasy I have in killing young people and making millions while doing it...Serial killers are so underpaid!

Should I become an arms dealer or manufacturer?

I rented the last house on the left, the original one because it was said to have very good rape scenes in it, and rape scenes really do it for me.

well needless to say, these ones just left me feeling gross, horrible, and like "a ghost had walked across my grave" as the perverbial saying goes.

And I saw Hostel, too, and there's certain scenes in it, even a few years later that just makes my blood run cold and squicks me to no end to recall and yes, that's in a bad way.

.I was not impressed with the Secretary, and found it very mis representing and shined a bad life on kink in general, but I did find some of the scenes amusing, so I would rent it again and watch it with Daddy.

So you're saying the hyper-realistic fire extinguisher scene isn't horror at all?
