That said, I wouldn't call him a spokesman for the right itself as much as for the NRA.  Which is a shame because Heston was such a towering figure - Nugent's a loudmouth punk by comparison.

Nugent is a wild spirit who symbolizes a lot of the rock generation I grew up with and he speaks the truth in a very animated, vivd and straightforward manner that strikes fear in the hearts of many on the left because he is so popular... and the fact that he is a rocker who had sex once with a young woman is immaterial to me. I've had sex with women younger than myself as well, and its like, so fucking what. People are going to come here on this site and act like puritans?

Ted Nugent wasn't even respected when he was making music.

He was a bubble-gum rocker that appealed to the 12 and 13-year olds and those with the mentality of that age group.

Except that's not really the point here.  Many celebrities and pseudo-celebrities get involved in politics.

But Uncle Ted is a liar and a fraud being wholeheartedly embraced by conservatives and Republicans.
