Sanity -> RE: What is the 'nanny state' ? (7/8/2010 3:09:03 PM)

I know, that safety data sheet makes it look like thats all a terrorist might need to take out the capital as well as five surrounding states.

Yet people have been using it as a cure all for generations with no ill effect. Aspirin is more deadly...

Run for your life, hes got boric acid (and hes not afraid to use it).

well, that safety sheet aint all that pretty.   and unless you show me the osha regulation, I am going to have do say I suspect this is more of your usual joe the plumber hyperbole .

Heres a perfect example of how our nanny government is protecting us. Boric acid is mined directly from the Earth. Its perfectly natural and has many widely accepted uses. Its sold as a rash cure, you put it on a babys butt and it will cure diaper rash in no time. Mix a little in water and wash your eye out with it and it will cure pink eye and other infections. Aspirin is more deadly, while baking soda is only slightly worse in toxicity.

Heres the MSDS safety data sheet for boric acid:

http://www.sciencelab.com/xMSDS-Boric_acid-9927105

If a small businessman asks a night janitor to spread a little of it around as a safe, natural insecticide (which is a widely accepted use) and then clean it up later and he has every right to refuse due to OSHA regulations.

So you are going to use this one example as proof that our entire system of laws and regulations to keep toxins out of the environment must be tossed aside so that we can be free from the nanny state...

Seriously entertaining.. lets just say fuck it, they can put lead in our paint, asbestos in our installation, they can stop watching how much dioxin goes into the environment... then you will be free!

Musicmystery -> RE: What is the 'nanny state' ? (7/8/2010 4:31:50 PM)

It's not even an example--nothing is prohibiting its use or even the use of far more dangerous chemicals. The MSDS sheets are just that--data. And from the sheet--this isn't all that hazardous.

Sanity -> RE: What is the 'nanny state' ? (7/8/2010 4:32:21 PM)

In Oregon you can't pump your own gas because Oregonians are too stupid, according to the Oregon state government. California kids can't buy certain dirt bikes because lead is a component of some parts, not the paint but the parts themselves and so apparently the California legislature was able to convince itself that California kids can and do eat motorcycles...

American nanny "children" are never going to be able to compete economically on the world stage if these staggeringly stupid rules arent kept to a minimum.

I have been going to Oregon since I was a child. The reason why Oregonians cannot pump gas is because it would take jobs away from those who pump it, according to Oregonians that I have known since I was a wee one

As far as the rest, I haven't a clue... I do know I am thankful that we have an EPA, and I wish they did their job better and that they weren't ran by lobbyists for so many years....

Seriously dude, you like no regulation over what goes into the environment, move to China, they were bleeding through their nose and throat before they had to clean up their air for the olympics.... that is what you get without a "nanny state"... l

Edited to add... you don't like California law, stay out.

Sanity -> RE: What is the 'nanny state' ? (7/8/2010 4:46:20 PM)

Like, ya no, seriously dudette... [:D]

Governmental bureaucrats forcing small business owners to unnecessarily hire scores of people to pump gas would be another perfect example of nanny government.

Do you think higher fuel prices help or hurt the average consumer? What about the costs of doing business.

And who should decide who to hire and when at their own business, and what to have them do - business owners, or state bureaucrats?

Exactly. The Arizonans figured this out months ago.

Yep, I was happy and proud to be a part of that boycott.... I helped deprive Arizona of the revenue they would have gotten from a professional organization I belong to cancelled their conference that was being held in Phoenix next year...

I was all over that

You're always looking at my profile julia, but thats okay, theres no need to make up these crazy excuses.

And you're sounding a little desperate here, in your argument. What does states rights or my travels have to do with the topic? What I wrote abour were examples of nanny government, nothing more. Try not to take it so personally.

I am not going to sink to telling you how you would never have a chance with me..yadda yadda yadda... because frankly I think you enjoy humiliation and I am not going to give in and give you what you want.... so many others are around to do it for me...

Sanity -> RE: What is the 'nanny state' ? (7/8/2010 6:36:52 PM)

I've had my home state listed on every post I've made for years, and you and I have been debating each other here in these threads off and on since 2006.

So... why is it again that you keep perving my profile?

[:D]

You seriously need to take your meds...

I have looked at your profile twice... both times to see where you lived because I didn't care enough to remember

But I tell you what, if it will help feed your weak little ego structure to think I am hot for you, you are welcome to that delusion, lord knows it is not the only one you suffer from

Sanity -> RE: What is the 'nanny state' ? (7/8/2010 6:43:06 PM)

Twice, huh? [sm=lol.gif]

You just keep telling yourself that. I know you're beet red right now, and you nailed one thing - I am enjoying it.

CA was just pissed because AZ was stirring up shit about illegals. How much money do you think CA make each year by exploiting all those people? They don't want laws enforced. That would crash your economy.

Sanity -> RE: What is the 'nanny state' ? (7/8/2010 6:52:09 PM)

Nah julia, I'm happy with the girl I've got. You'd be fun though... now that I know what you're into.

I always suspected as much, too!

How about we get back on topic now?

juliaoceania -> RE: What is the 'nanny state' ? (7/8/2010 6:54:38 PM)

Oh yeah, you were ranting about how the state was taking your rights, even though you don't even live in those states... it must be rough to not be able to decide whether you favor state's rights, or you don't[8|]

Sanity -> RE: What is the 'nanny state' ? (7/8/2010 6:58:09 PM)

No, I was giving examples of what nanny states do, when you wigged out and said I can't travel any more, and insisted that I can't post about such examples because I have to believe in states rights because I lean right...
