DarkSteven -> Is this the best midterm election ever? (7/11/2010 5:39:28 PM)

Let's face it.  After the election, about 50% of the electorate will be pissed that their candidate didn't win, and later on, the dissatisfaction will rise still more as party faithful get disenchanted.  So the best time is prior to election.

With that said, has there ever been a wackier midterm election?  We have:

1. Sharron Angle being a complete wacko.  She's claiming that Harry Reid's campaign stole her "intellectual property" by publicizing her old website.  With that, she's managed to keep interest high, as well as make the GOP stance against frivolous lawsuits look ridiculous.  Also it makes her look like a crybaby.
2. Fiorina's campaign featuring the infamous demon sheep video as well as her catty comment about Boxer's hair.
3. Alvin Greene, the man who won decisively in the primary nobody should want, getting to be cannon fodder against DeMint.  Bizarrely, the Dems in that state are making a ruckus.  If Vic Rawl had gotten 30% of the vote against DeMint, it would be viewed as decisive for DeMint.  But if Greene manages the same thing, it will be viewed as a sign of DeMint's weakness that a nobody could score that much against him.

Greene's idea for stimulating the economy?  Action figures of him!

And that's not mentioning Joe Barton's complaint that Obama is treating BP unfairly, which has suddenly defused the oil spill as a political issue for the GOP, and Steele's ongoing escapades.

Is this the best midterm election ever, or what?

I love election night, even though I wasn't to pleased with the way things turned out in 2008. I really would like to see Nancy Pelosi fly coach again when the dems lose the House..

....how this goes... no one rises in power unless and until there is something that can be used against him -  this way he/she does the bidding of the elite.   If he fails to tow the line the dirt is unleashed.

What does this mean?

none of them are representing us unless there is a scandal.

TheHeretic -> RE: Is this the best midterm election ever? (7/11/2010 6:43:28 PM)

Honestly, Steve, I wish I had something close to home to jump into. Both House races in my neck of the woods are safe seats. The Dems want to localize the campaign (which means all that stuff about them not liking negative campaigns and the politics of personal destruction goes right under the bus), the Repubs want to turn it into a referendum on the Pres. and his policies.

It's going to be a lot of fun to watch. Best ever? Ask me as the unpredictable events play their role.

1994 was pretty awesome, and a repeat performance is more critical to the country than ever. So "best" will have to wait for the results. For entertainment value this one packs a punch, but its not worth the price of admission.

I want my cat to win this time.  She would be better.   :-)~

We will have a great race for a Senate seat here in Wisconsin. Russ Feingold, one of the most liberal members there will have a very tough race. Right now, he is tied with conservative business man, Ron Johnson.

And the trend towards a long hot summer of corruption, scandal, and tactical incompetence continues. Another case the DOJ decided to drop might bite them on the ass.

Note the part about the candidate for US Senate who might benefit from a D voting graveyard...

Reid has to go.

Even Brain would be better.

59,

they really dont like the fed govt in Nevada.  I dont think Reid is a shoo in.

Owner59 -> RE: Is this the best midterm election ever? (7/11/2010 8:46:43 PM)

hunky,

It doesn`t matter how unpopular candidate A is.

If candidate B is less popular, candidate A wins.

Is that one of those glass half empty things?

So when is the big day?

Elisabella -> RE: Is this the best midterm election ever? (7/11/2010 9:12:27 PM)

I kinda hope Alvin Greene wins in SC. I think that's my sadistic side.

Unless, of course, a vote against candidate A is also a vote against the foolish policies of an administration in WAY over it's collective head. Then candidate B can still win, no matter how desperate and ugly the smears and slanders get.

Say, Basiji, how bipartisan and Obama friendly do you figure the class of '13 will be after you call them every name in the book and tell vicious lies about them during the campaign? You do understand that the Democrats will have to sleep in the bed they make, right?

joether -> RE: Is this the best midterm election ever? (7/11/2010 10:22:21 PM)

Actually Steven, it would be much more amusing if the Democrats were to take more seats in the house and senate. No, not that I think that will happen, or praying. Just would be really funny. Just to watch all the monkeys on Fox News jumping and foaming at the mouths. And for Democrats to sit for a moment, scratching there heads at how that could have happen....then go get stuff done in Congress. You know...kinda of the main reason we Americans 'hire' all these guys to office in the first place....get stuff done!

I did find an organization called 'The Coffee Party'. Essentially, it is the opposite of the Tea Party: sane, educated, patience, and want the system of goverment we have to work for ALL Americans. Not just the conservative Americans interests.

What really bugs me, is when fully half the voting public doesnt vote. There seems to be alot of people that just want to bitch about the goverment, who didn't even vote in the last election. I have no problem with someone, who says Mr. Obama isn't doing a good job.....if they voted in the last election for President.

I have it on very good authority that when Pelosi deigns to fly commercial she sits in first class while her staff rides in coach. Mostly she uses government planes.

Be well....
