Hey, if a gay man and a gay woman want to get married who is Texas to stop them? Maybe they'll have a kid together who'll grow up to be a straight male who knows how to decorate.

Do you support gender discrimination for any other form of legal contract? Maybe like, women should only be able to get mortgages from women, and men from men?

Let me tell you something.

We have a situation where the repubs fucked up so bad that they are unlikely to get the big chair in the near future. I mean they really fucked up in the eyes of the world and everyone else. And then with the internet people are discussing this and they are even more umlikely to get the big chair.

So now what these people ar doing is trying to return to "traditional" values, home and hearth, all that bullshit. The nuclear family that they destroyed. The taxpating Citizen and rights. They associate all these things together. The traditional way of life that ACTUALLY DID help this country become strong.

But it is a play. Like the preacher molesting your son. They ignore the problems of the the past and are hoping to replay the past. They want you to think white picket fence, baseball and even rock and roll. They are trying to appeal to people who remember how it used to be and I do. But they are simply trying to manipulate people for their own personal gain.

Sometimes I have said that I've been studying psychology for over thirty years, but really to put it more aptly I have been studying human behavior. You draw the line.

But here is where it comes in, the baby boomers are now in our forties and we remember how life was, and actually if the hate and bullshit were gone, would like to return to those times of proserity and peace. "Dude, go back to the weed dude's house", after the cops got behind you and the idiot threw the ounce out the window. And everyone was too paranoid to pull over and look for it. I mean we had some good times and they are trying to create the illusion that they will restore those good times while nothing could be farther from the truth. They are the same megalomaniacs we deal with every day.

Their mistake however is the same mistake almost everyone makes. They think everyone is the same, and even if they are a wolf in sheep's clothing, they think all the sheep are the same. They are backwards and in a way retarded and I hope Ron Paul doesn't get mixed up with them.

I know what the fuck I am talking about and I can sat this, they are going nowhere, They are not worth a secon look. Don't waste precious time on them. They will never get popular support.

Motherfuckers I came in here with one simple idea and people did not agree. Just one thing - that all members of the the governmant get the same retirement and health care we get. People couldn't even agree on that, so where do you think these fuckheads are going ? Down the tubes with the rest of us. I just hope their shit doesn't clog it up.

Your average CM member is probably 50% smarter than these fucks. Nothing is going to happen, even in Texas.

Texas has already made it impossible for anyone to get married.

If they accidentally make it a felony I am going to laugh at them again.

"This state or a political subdivision of this state may not create or recognize any legal status identical or similar to marriage.""

Well that shows ya about how smart they are.

When you write law every word is important. If you don't understand that go back to Mars.

Texas is just too weird.  I'm a believer in states right, but.. Those clowns have their own textbooks, their own laws (marrying gays being a FELONY?), and when Perry talked about seceding, he wasn't kidding.

The platform is firm in its belief that felon's should remain disenfranchised, so make gay marriage a felony and you take away their voting rights as well.

Asshats.

Asshats.

They also demand that the sodomy laws, overturned by the Supreme Court, be reinstated. These guys are really really afraid of teh gays.

Growing up in Texas, it was hard for me.  I'm not a lesbian.  I just happen to be Pagan as opposed to Christian.  If you're Christian, you're accepted without question.

Y'know, I used to find the idea of gay marriage awful and horrible.  I grew up believing that homosexuality was a sin, but as I slowly began to unravel myself from my Christian cocoon, I learned to accept and love everyone.  Homosexuality is not a bad thing.  It doesn't hurt anyone.

What they're doing in Texas...I'm not surprised, but it still hurts that the place I will always call home is doing thing.  If ever Daddy and I have kids, I want to raise them there, but I'm worried.  I'm worried if this goes through that people I grew up with will be hurt by it.

I fully support Texas becoming their own country. Then I no longer have to refer to a single Texan as a fellow countryman.

I oppose this.

There is a certain Texas resident that needs to appear before a war crimes tribunal and I'm sure it won't happen if Texas was to leave the republic. If they turn him over then the rest of them can go.

This has been done to death.  No such plank has been adopted, nor will it ever.  Even in Texas, folks have better things to do than this.  You've been had, again.

No kidding?

You mean this is all just something made up by liberals to discredit the GOP?

Thanks for cluing us in to how we've been tricked...............again.

The 2010 platform from the Republican Party of Texas can be found here.

So let's take a look at what it says:

Homosexuality – We believe that the practice of homosexuality tears at the fabric of society, contributes to the breakdown
of the family unit, and leads to the spread of dangerous, communicable diseases.

Homosexual behavior is contrary to the fundamental, unchanging truths that have been ordained by God, recognized by our country’s founders, and shared by the majority of Texans.

Homosexuality must not be presented as an acceptable “alternative” lifestyle in our public education and policy, nor should “family” be redefined to include homosexual “couples.”

We are opposed to any granting of special legal entitlements, refuse to recognize, or grant special privileges including, but not limited to: marriage between persons of the same sex (regardless of state of origin), custody of children by homosexuals, homosexual partner insurance or retirement benefits. We oppose any criminal or civi penalties against those who oppose homosexuality out of faith, conviction, or belief in traditional values.

Texas Sodomy Statutes
– We oppose the legalization of sodomy. We demand that Congress exercise its authority
granted by the U.S. Constitution to withhold jurisdiction from the federal courts from cases involving sodomy.

Pornography – We urge our governmental bodies to enforce laws regarding all forms of pornography. We urge more
stringent legislation to prohibit all pornography including virtual pornography and operation of sexually–oriented
businesses.

I wonder whether such proposals are an annual event, arising in the early summer and dying down by the late autumn?

Actually, the Republican party as a whole has been against gay marriage, not just in Texas

This is true, but there are some wings of the party that seem a bit more obsessive about that one than others.

I wonder if "the majority of Texans" who are opposed to this sort of beastliness have ever been to Dallas?
