Not to derail the thread, but it seems over-reaching and idiocy aren't merely a Texan trend:

The law is written in such a way that it encompasses "all Internet communications - such as postings on websites and through listservs, which might be read or seen by a minor - and not merely those communications directed to a specific minor."

My point is that even in liberal land Massachusetts, fools abound.

This is true, but there are some wings of the party that seem a bit more obsessive about that one than others.

I wonder if "the majority of Texans" who are opposed to this sort of beastliness have ever been to Dallas?

I don't know about the majority, but I was born just outside of DFW and have been to Dallas, literally, hundreds of times.

As someone who lives just north of Mass I can assure you that over-reaching and idiocy are very much a part of the common wealth.

I fully support Texas becoming their own country. Then I no longer have to refer to a single Texan as a fellow countryman.

I feel the same way!  I'm a Texan, I think there are a lot of transplants down here.  I think all these idiots come from someplace else, maybe Mississippi.  I honestly don't know what the fuck these people are doing, though.
