"That was not his task and that's not the task of NASA," Gibbs said. Bolden, though, said last month in the interview that it was President Obama who gave him that task. He made a similar claim in February. The White House also backed up Bolden last week when his remarks first stirred controversy. A White House spokesman last Tuesday said Obama wants NASA to engage with the world's best scientists and that to meet that challenge, NASA must "partner with countries around the world like Russia and Japan, as well as collaboration with Israel and with many Muslim-majority countries." NASA last week walked back Bolden's claim that Muslim outreach was the "perhaps foremost" plank of his mission, saying that Bolden was merely talking about his "outreach" responsibilities and that space exploration is still NASA's No. 1 job. But Gibbs on Monday appeared to deny that Bolden was asked to focus on Muslim outreach at all. Manufacured. Trace the story back and you'll find the origin in the swirl of the right wing echo chamber. Drudge -> Rush -> FNC -> blogs -> Drudge -> Rush -> FNC over and over again. It may have gotten some coverage in the mainstream, personally never saw it in the Chicago Tribune until yesterday and that was in a column by Krauthammer.

What upsets them is that anyone is allowed to report such unflattering facts about our representatives. Look at kens arguments, he claims this is the fault of right wing news... No ken, right wing news merely reported it. Which begs the question, by the way - where is left wing news on this, why the gaping omission on their part. Where is CNN, where is the New York Times. Where is CBS, Reuters, the AP?

I asked in the last thread about this non-issue...... What`s wrong with improving relations with the Muslim community? However that happens. If the guy had said we were using NASA to target Muslims for bombing,cons would have cheered.[:D]
